I have a Sho-Bud Pro III. I am 100% new to pedal steel. Just learned how to tune the guitar yesterday. My question is about the Right knee right lever. It's the only one that has two positions as far as I know, going from an open D# to a D in the first knee position, and then if pressed further to a C#.
My question is what if the C# isn't in tune? I tuned the open string to D#, then with the lever engaged in the first position I adjusted the rod on the side to et it tuned to D, but when I go to the C# position on the knee lever it's to in tune. |

There are two ways of tuning the D, and neither is on that rod. If you have a mechanical half stop, the D tunes under the guitar.
Otherwise, you adjust the D on the 9tg string tuning rod _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

By mechanical half stop, I mean something like this thingamajig here, although the Sho-Bud looks a little different, but similar: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nZoVqgtGk3o _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

in lane's enthusiasm to share his knowledge with you, he forgot to mention that 'first of all' tune your string open to d#.
second, tune the c# with the lever fully activated.
then worry about figuring out the half stop d. |

That's pretty much what I was assuming the order was, but appreciate the clarification and confirmation! |
