Topic: Ordered The "Encore" |

A couple weeks ago I got a hold of Doug and ordered a new Encore.
I asked Doug to make it with Blue front and back, and Black top.
I will post pics when I get it.
These Stage Ones and Encores are amazing guitars, especially for the price.

| You're gonna love it. I got a new one about a month ago and it is one of the best sounding guitars I've ever had (and I've had a bunch). Great pedal action and my poor old tired back really appreciates the light weight. |

Y'all know I've been thru a bunch of guitars, then on a whim I picked up a Stage One and was blown away.
Then I tried an Encore and wow, it is so comfortable to play and very light (which matters more than it used to)

I just got a (barely) used Stage One, as my first steel (after 30+ years on the guitar). I really, really love it. I'm seriously considering ordering an Encore though, mostly for the knee lever adjustability. I'm kind of a big guy, with mighty thighs, and I find I'm triggering the levers inadvertently a LOT. What's the wait time on an Encore these days? Considering the demand for used Stage One's, it seems I couldn't really lose if I wanted to step up.

The wait is around 3 months at this time.
You could ask Doug if you need to be more specific Brother.
Yeah, I have a Stage One too and tho it's a great little guitar,
I think the Encore can be adjusted to fit anyone a little better.
Plus, if you like adding or moving stuff around the Encore will let you do that easily.

I wish Doug would make a 12 string. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
I love my 2 Millenniums, but I want a 3rd steel, one I can take to the beach and play with my Pignose.

SWEET ! Mine will be the same blue as yours on the aprons and Black on the top.
I don't know what Doug feeds these things but they are amazing little guitars for sure.
Is that a Franklin pedal? If so, is it in pos 1 or 4?

I have had 4 Legrands to date. I liked them all.
My favorite of the Legrands was one I bought from Lashley Sr new in 1989.
He could really build them.
I think I may have a screw loose or something

Yes, the fourth pedal is the "Franklin" change and I have in the 1st position, left of the A pedal. |

Do you have any trouble getting use to having pedal A in second position Buddy? I'm thinking of having Doug add the 4th pedal on mine but when I had it in pos 4 on previous guitars I didn't seen to find/use it very often.

John,
I had no problem adjusting to my "A" pedal in the 2nd position. I find it very easy to use the "Franklin" change in that position rather than having to reach over to use it if it was in the 4th position. i think that most players with a typical Emmons setup have it in the first position. Players having a "Day" setup usually would have it in the 4th position. |

When I moved my A pedal over a slot to add a zero pedal, it didn't bother me a bit. I planted my heel 2.5" to the right and away I went. Never looked back.

When I ordered my Encore two years ago with four pedals, Doug recommended putting the "Franklin pedal" far left in the zero position as he called it. I don't use it much but a simple twist of your ankle and there it is.

Hi JB,
That's a beauty! Thou shalt not covet. Is it ok to be envious? The Encore is on my bucket list. Hoping to pull the trigger on one if I can sell some toys from another "nice little hobby" (toys predate the high capacity 15-pedal limit). Ha!
Never had a zero pedal, nor a vertical lever. Doug builds a lot of guitar into the Encore.
What pickup did you get? |

What are the key differences between the Stage One and the Encore? If I just run a standard Emmons 4 knee 3 pedal setup, is there a reason to pay more for the Encore?

The Encore,being an all-pull,can simultaneously raise and lower a string, while the pull-release Stage One will have raises overpowering lowers.
The Encore is reconfigurable, while the Stage One is fixed. For some people,this is a problem.
The Stage One will have better tone, because the bigger fingers do that.

Hey John,
Happy for you ordering the Encore. I wanted to know if one can add other pedals/knees to the Encore. What is the max?
Anyway, as far as the Franklin pedal location, for what it's worth, I have one on my steel, after the ABC pedals (position 4). AT first I have not used it much, but am using it more now. By the way, mine is split: the Franklin pedal lowers both B strings, but the #6 (G# to F#) lower is on a knee. I use the pedal in licks (with my right foot), that I suppose would not be as easy if the pedal were right next to the "A" pedal.

Pat Chong, Maximum Encore harvest is 4x5.

Lane, Interesting that bigger fingers produce better tone. My problem must then be I have little chubby fingers.
However, I still love my Encore and have had it for a few years now. It is a great machine and gives much pleasure and is a wee gem.

I went ahead and told Doug to put the Franklin pedal in the "0" position. Also getting the detachable pad.
