Hi everyone !
Maybe you've read the thread "bad deal and easy $$$" in the steel players section.
I'm shopping for a GOOD steel (S10 or SD10) and am really interested in the WBS guitars made by fo-bro Wolfgang Bednarz in Germany.
I would like to gather as much infos as I can about the way they play sound etc...
btw, they look really gorgeous, check the website below and have a glance...

Thanks for your help,
Vic

Mark Horn (from Germany) played one at the recent Irish festival and it sounded pretty good to me.

I have played the same Mark VI Paris Selmer sax for over 35 years. Europeans are well known for their precision mechanics and from the looks a beautiful instrument also. Love to play one of these someday. [This message was edited by Chuck McGill on 25 November 2004 at 05:28 AM.] |

European guitars are pretty expensive for guys in US. WBS is 3600 euros wich is around $5K plus shipping.Promat is very close with its 3500 euros price tag.I don`t know about WBS since I never played one but I wouldn`t trade my Promat for any other guitar.

Damir.
You are right about that prices.
5K is to much.
And I hope that I will not start a fight.
After calculating the costs and the labor on a steel.....I think that I can build a D10 for aprox 3000-3100Euro's.

Hi SGF members,
yes Wolfgang Bednarz/WBS Steelguitars in Germany he is doing a great job and his support is excellent. In this case, I'm sure he have a satisfactory solution about shippingcosts, taxes etc.

$5000 It`s not too much. Many steels in the US has same price range some more some less.
I just hopes he makes enough profit to make a living in servicing the european steel community, IMHO.
Thanks,

yes,I would have to agree.prices seems to be between 4K-5K for a high end instrument (US or Europe). And even more for some brands. So far record price would be (as far as I know) an S-10 Anapeg with its 8K price tag.Expensive??I would say whatever floats your boat, different people like different things.

WBS do make a fine guitar. I have played one,and in fact I have a New SD10 3+5 in stock. Superb finish and wonderful engineering,(one of the things that the Germans are renowned for) These guitars are fast gaining respect from players all over Europe. Do yourself a favour Victor, check out the WBS. |

Victor.
Ted is right.WBS does build great PSG's.They are and look great.Wolfgang does a great job on them.I do not know if the Burgundy Red Demo is still available but if it is that is a great starter and Pro model and not expensive.
My recomendation to you is give Wolfgang a call.
He's a great guy to deal with.
