I looked up Several 12 U tuning's when I got into 12 string steel. A DVD with this tuning was with the the steel I bought. I use this tuning on my GFI 7 pedal-4 knee levers. Type in Tuning Charts-Jeffran College It will take you to their Web site, Then click on Tuning, Scroll down to 12U E9/B6. If your steel is set up with Pedal 4 raising 9 from B to C, Lowering String 11 from E to D# and lowering String 12 B to G# this may be the tuning used on your guitar. This is Jeff Newman's tuning for the 12 string E9th/B6 tuning with 7P-4KL. Good Luck and Happy Steelin.

Here is my tuning. The W is a wrist lever.

I must confess I never use the B6 side, and may take those pedals off at some future point. But I like the layout of the open strings and the extended bass.

What is going on with this , here is how its setup after tuning this guitar here is what I get
ped 1 raises strings 9 and 5
ped 2 raises strings 6 and 3
ped 3 raises string 5
the vertical lowers string 5
lnl lowers string 2
rnl raises string 4
rnr lowers strings 4 and 8
ped 7 raises strings 7 and 6
ped 6 lowers 8
ped 5 lowers 7 and raises string 11
ped 4 raises 12 and 9
Completely confused here , Help ?
the e s are lowered way over on the right knee right seems like a big mess.

Yes, it looks like it has been messed with, as it is currently several pulls shy of the full E9/B6 setup that it most likely had from the factory.
You probably have plenty there for a killer Ext E9 ax, though.
It is quite normal to have the E changes over on the right knee, if there is such a thing as normal in E9/B6. Laughing
Sierras are cool; I had one many moons ago, and it was solid, smooth, and reliable.

Russell,

Sierra does not support their pedal steel guitars anymore.
You need to contact Jim Palenscar at Steel Guitars North County, located in California for pats, etc.

I have set and compared what you posted on the pulls and lowers. I think some one tried to set it up with Jeff Newman's U 12 Tuning. There is a pull on string 10 with pedal B. Pull on string 4. With these 2 additions you would have the Pedals A, B, and C to Common E9th tuning on a Emmons/Nashville set up.

This is Newman's Tuning with cents count + or - which it makes easier with most tuners. RKL is missing a raise on string 8 to go with the 4th string raise. With the addition of these 3 pulls you would have standard A, B, C Pedals and D Knee lever RKR and F Knee lever RKL for a standard E9th Tuning. The chart in the picture I will E-mail or send a copy to you U.S. Mail if you send me an E-mail. If you want to use it. Good Luck and Happy Steelin.

First thing The above co-pendent is missing a pull. I am guilty. I put this co-pendent together by watching Jeff Newman's video on tuning a 12 U. It does not list the 11th string pull to F on the F Knee Lever. Here is a picture with it added.

This post made me look into sites for 12 U tunings and found the addition on JeFran web site. Now you want to know the bad part. Billy Cooper had set this guitar up Nashville/Emmons when new. When I bought it I went under the hood. Set it up Day and moved the D lever to RKR and F knee lever to RKL. I just marked and moved all the rods around. Last night after I found that additional pull on the internet I looked and the rod was there just the plastic nut was backed off. I tuned it up and what an addition. Now when A pedal and F knee lever are engaged you have a lower octive of notes on strings 9, 10 and 11 as on 3, 4 and 5. Sorry that pull was missed. Now the question is, Is old age catching me or steel guitars are working on my mind? BJ
