The music, lineup and organization at the non-pedal show were fantastic this year.
Great players held forth.
Really fine music was served up, our crew all wished we could have spent loads more time just listening to the talent.
Congratulations and thanks to Steven for his great effort and organization - world class venue!
Can't wait 'til next year! |

Well, thanks, folks... it seems that I have people thanking me that deserve thanks as well; this is as good a place as any to put it all together. It was indeed a great show, better than I had any reason to hope, but I was not alone in bringing it to you.
First, I'd like to thank my emcees Rose Sinclair and Bob Blair... without their help I'd have been a floundering mess. I hereby request your help next year if you can make it!
Next, I'd like to thank the talent that played on our stage.. unlike downstairs, these folks don't get any remuneration for giving us their time... it's a labor of love, and it shows. If you haven't noticed, I'm gradually getting videos out there, watch in the Non-Pedal Steel section of the forum and you can see what a great job these folks did.
Next I'd like to thank Mike Misetich for helping set up and tear down... Mike, you were there early and stayed late, and I appreciate it.
Next, the backline musicians: Mark Moseley, Carco Clave, Ivan Reddington, Charlie Irwin, and Ron Erwin. It's not an easy job to be on stage for hours reading charts for tunes you've never played... these are the guys that make the artists comfortable and help bring the beautiful music about... stellar job, guys.
Another important ingredient was the donations I received... this allowed me to drape the stage, pay the core of my backline, and let us have pizza on Friday! Phyllis and Larry Tresnicky, Jeff Strouse, Bob Blair, Rose Sinclair, Mark Moseley, Don Walworth, and others donated money to help bring this to you... thanks folks. Quilter and Telonics were very generous with their time and equipment, quite literally our backline runneth over! Please patronize these sponsors of the Room.
Lastly, I want to thank Albert and Debbie Talley and the TSGA for having confidence in me and for giving me the backing to get this thing rolling. These are the folks that really lie behind the entire event, making things happen. The hotel really gave Albert problems this year, but it ended up coming off without a hitch, at least as far as I could see. I'm already excited about next year, let's see how it goes! _________________ New FB Page: Lap Steel Licks And Stuff: https://www.facebook.com/groups/195394851800329 |
