Congratulations to my old band mate Neil Flanz for being a BIG PART of why Fingerpistol was named the Best Country band at the Austin Music Awards during SXSW this week....for the 2nd year in a row!! Neil's playing is always a joy to hear. If you're in Austin, go check him/them out. |

Hey Geoff, Fingerpistol alumni post?
Neil is one of the coolest guys on the planet.. I had the pleasure to work with him in Fingerpistol for several years, and we recorded together on the last record, what a blast!
Here's Neil on one from that record:

Fingerpistol is at Ginny's almost every Tuesday, and they were doing Thursday's at the Broken Spoke last I heard. Definitely worth getting out and meeting Neil if you happen to be in town. _________________ Lost Pines Studio

I reckon so Bill! I'm "glad"(?) I got out of the way so you, Neil and the band could go on to "stardom"....such as it is. |

Had the chance to Jam with Neil back in the late 90s at "Gram's Place" here in Tampa. I played bass, my friend Donny on guitar, & I sang a lot of old Gram that night. Was a pleasure meeting him. I'll never forget that night. _________________ A couple D-10s,some vintage guitars & amps, & lotsa junk in the gig bag. |

Neil was my inspiration for switching to "pedals" vs. steel guitar. I still remember that first instructional material that I purchased.... where you "mashed the pedals". LOL. Neil is a great player, paid his dues (+ 2) and deserves all the credit he can get. I still remember in the early 70's when I was working in Montreal..... it seemed everyone was talking about Neil (including Ron Dann). Of course Neil had already made the move to the states back then, but still my favourite player... and the reason I play today.
God Bless and play on Neil!! Glad you made the move from Florida to Austin awhile back.
