I was so pleased to see Mike Brown and the other Peavey folks with their new steel amp at the show. I was told this will be Made In USA!! Kudos to Hartley and Mike. The amp shown was a proto type with a few tweaks still needed, per what I was told. The amp looks to be a killer design to me with built in reverb, digital delay and chorus! Weighing in less than the N-112 amp, a 15" BW speaker and dual 250 watt amps (can operate an external speaker at 4 ohms).

Sure looks like a winner to me!

Was unable to get to Dallas show, but from what I have read and heard said, it was vastly overpriced at around $1799, which I beleve puts it out of reach for many of us(assuming it would be available for UK/Euro area, where price would be sustantially higher). Noticed one small thing about it I disliked, it still has the stupid cutaway as per 112 leaving controls exposed to being broken off. Forget the effects, just give us a light weight well powered amp at a reasonable price.
Noticed in another thread someone said " Peavey are listening to steel players", personally I don't think so, - high price, same design fault with cab/controls etc.Think they have shot themselves in foot with this one.Great Pity to see this.

The front "cut away" was the first comment I made about the new amp when the pictures were posted on the forum. I suspect they used a stock cabinet that is used for other models, rather than a new cabinet specifically for the 115.

The price can and will be an issue. There are those that can afford the "boutique" price and others that cannot but will anyway. But, will that be enough to justify the product, even at a "street discounted" price?

Did anyone actually test drive the one in Dalllas ? I'd be interested in a players review, if there is one out there.

I agree the price seems high, but what new amp do we compare it to? Quilter comes to mind, which is cheaper and lighter. The Delay is a welcome addition. That adds some value to me.

I'm not in the market, but would be interested in hearing real world reviews when they become available. I'd like to see some positive feedback from the steel community, as Peavey has supported us for so long.

I look forward to getting one. Price seems fair to me, being made in USA and with the effects. Guitar Center always has discounts and coupons if you ask. I'm selling some stuff now to help with the funds. I'm crazy about the light weight and as with my 112 I'll put a knob guard on it.

I talked to Mike Brown briefly on Friday. He told me the cutaway top panel will be gone in production. It was a prototype..

FWIW, price aside, the amp seemed to have the right stuff although the built in effects might not be on my personal wish list. I didn't hear it, Mike offered and I declined to exhibit my 'skills' in public. Smile

I mentioned to Mike that it was interesting that Peavey was still in the steel guitar amp biz after all these years, and he told me that if it wasn't for Hartley, they probably wouldn't be. I took that to mean Hartley has some personal interest in doing steel amps. Maybe Mike will see this post and comment further.

As a guitar player I like a nice on board reverb but no other effects.

I haven't played out with Peavey amps in a long time. The first new amp I ever bought I still have, a Mace VT head. That thing was a ton of great headroom. 160 watts, 6 6L6CGs. I've wonder if with an Eminence EPS-15c in a 115 cab if this would make a good steel amp.

My road rig in 80s was 2 Bandit 65s in stereo. Worked great. The reasoning was if I was in BFE and one of the amps died I could just pull the right side output cable out of the Yamaha SPX90 and run mono to the working amp. Never had to do that. They were bulletproof. I tried EVM-12L speakers but they sounded too harsh and cold. I liked the Scorpions better in the Bandits. Stereo chorus sounded great on slow Restless Heart sytle stuff.

Started using my old 65 Twin when I was playing around home again in 89. Sold the Bandits to help finance my Boogie in 93. Kind of wish I still had the Bandits.

I bet I've done over 500 gigs on one peavey steel amp. One night it fried. Burnt smell, followed by dead amp. Nobody in the band could believe a Peavey died on a gig.

I sent the chassis to Meridian. It was well out of warranty. They fixed it for free. There was a bent shaft on one of the pots, which I didn't ask to be fixed. They fixed it for free.

They sent it back to me , at their expense , in less than a week. It was like new. All for free. I didn't even buy the amp new.

While we all wish that the new gear cost less, let's face it. New gear is expensive, and we want new, cool features. I think if were a toss up between the Peavey, and another similar amp competitively priced, shouldn't we consider the track record ? Just sayin......

This post about our new Session 115 amplifier is interesting. Yes, the U.S.MSRP is $1799, which I did announce at the TSGJ last week. We received favorable responses on this product.

I would hope that after 50 years in the business, that most musicians would know that Peavey Electronics tries to offer "real world" products at "real world" prices". However, you have to consider what value you are getting with that product. As mentioned by Doug Palmer, "GC always has discounts and coupons if you ask", so I feel sure you can get it at a reduced price. Check MAP pricing on the Session 115 with your Peavey dealer.

In order to compare one product to another, all specs and features must be equal. At that point, pricing can be compared. We did gather info/input at the TSGJ and for that we thank you.

Mike Brown, I for one have used Peavey products for over 45 years and my experience has been 99.9 % positive. My favorite for steel guitar is still the Session 400. For guitar, the original Special 130, and Bandit 65. I have also been amazed at the sounds that several of my Pro player friends are getting from the Nashville 112.

I want to thank you and Peavey for listening and providing the services that you folks have to literally millions of musicians across the world. For the most part, your products have been "idiot proof". Thanks, Lonnie Portwood

Steve. There was a house Peavey TNT 130 bass amp at a small club near Lafayette. Every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights, we would play it so loud, the speaker would constantly pop, but the amp would never die !! We tried killing it, though Smile Smile

Peavey has made great tube amps since the beginning. Seems like a great steel amp would either be an absolutely no frills six-6L6 head with only tube reverb or a combo two 6L6 in a Fender Deluxe Reverb package, with trem and tube rectifier.

If I wanted effects, I'd buy outboard products. Right now I have a beat USA Delta Blues 15", a first-year '74 Session 400, and a lightly modded 112.

Peavey has never let me down.

Please pardon me for what I am about to say , but I feel these words are just exactly what a lot of us out here are thinking. Although new to the steel guitar community , I have been a musician of 30 plus years , and in that time have ALWAYS relied on and used PEAVEY equipment, and that reason being because PEAVEY manufactures the most reliable stuff on the market and at a price that a common person could afford and still stay with in there budget. HOWEVER a U.S.MSRP at $1799 for a new amp, I feel is way out of my price range, and I would venture to say LOT of other's feel the same. Not to say that folks do not have the right to make a living . Sorry if I offended any one including PEAVEY .

Lots of comments about the price of the new Peavey amp ...well there are quite a few other "boutique" offerings for steel players out there now ....and nearly all of them are way more expensive than the new Peavey amp !!!! And there doesnt appear to be a shortage of people buying those amps :-} .... just sayin'

All pricing has gone up. But the new Session 115 includes digital effects(delay, chorus and reverb)a neo 15" BW speaker, weighs 44.5 lbs., has 250 watt stereo power amp, a remote hand controller for the effects, and sounds great! I invite you add up all of this with your present rig and see what that costs.

Let's give it a chance and evaluate it when you hear it. We are all striving for the same goal, ie; a great sounding rig. Also, you will probably be able to purchase at a lot lower price through your dealer. How much does a new steel guitar cost? Just sayin'.

Like I said before I been using Peavey products for 30 years or more and had one dud product out of a hundred or more purchases . Guess I am old fashion or conservative when it comes to money . Too bad Peavey does not offer just a plain bare bones rack mount preamp voiced for steel guitar . That would be a good seller !

Yeah. And we can't afford those either.
