Just to let you know that on wednesday March 9th, I will be heading down to the transplant hospital for my 17th year check up. It will be 17 years to the day I got a new heart from a loving family who donated their loved one's organs after his tragic road accident which left him Brain Dead.
I know I still have some health issues, but I've had 17 years that I definitely would not have had....my old heart was shot to pieces!! It was a milestone to get to 10 years, but 17?? wow....I never thought I could do it. Thank God for Organ donors and hospitals with great Surgeons and staff. God bless them all xxxx

Here's to you, Mickey. As a six year member of the Zipper Club I totally get it.
My deal wasn't as hard core as yours was (aortic valve replacement), but like you, I'm here today thanks to medical miracles.
17 years...wow. Hat's off to ya... |

Hi Micky; my friend: Hang in there, man; Seventeen yrs. is a great mile-stone for a new heart. Really happy for you, mate. Has Kim Been on recently to tell you about my youngest son. Was living on the streets of Honolulu, Hawaii; Quite an ordeal to get him back to the states; I agreed to pay his travel expenses providing we fly him back to New York; where he is close to our family members . Took us 30 hrs. of flight time ; had to change planes four times; With my Kim ;My eldest son; A grand girl meeting him at an airport in Ogd, N.Y. He's staying at kim's home until they can find a place for him. As you well know, Micky; God performs in his own way. I'm doing O.K. Right now I can't wait to head down to Dallas on Friday for the big Jamboree.Hoping to see many great steelers; especially Mike johnson & my young Buddy; Austin Stewert [ A twenty two yr. old fantastic Steel man ] I'll have my girl take a few pics while we attend.. Again, Micky; I wish you the best of luck..

Good to hear from you Bernie ...No I haven't heard from Kim, and hope it all works out well......things happen for a reason. Enjoy Dallas...you've some "Tone" monsters like Mike Johnson to listen to....Wow, I envy you. Perhaps when I win the lottery one day, I'll be over....actually I won my lottery 17 years ago ....God Bless.

Thanks Guys....just got home about an hour ago. The new heart is fine....Now just the other problems on "other parts" to be sorted out....Namely the Aortic Aneurism, and and another Meningioma (Brain tumour) ...I had one removed in 1993 before my transplant. Here goes another battle for me If I didn't laugh I'd cry....so laughing is better
