That pressure relief valve is a huge plus when flying, Jim. As a funeral director I occasionally have to ship someone in a casket via air, and those metal caskets with the rubber gasket on the lid, the "sealers", have a similar valve. Most airplane cargo holds are not pressurized and any sealed, air tight container can possibly crush due to sudden pressure changes when in flight. Super idea, sir!

Absolutely, Jim. Now a case with a retractable handle along with the wheels would be what I'd really love to see someone build.

| These cases have a rubber grip style handle on top and on the end. But I use a case for my seat that has a retractable handle. 😀 |

| It depends on the measurements of the cabinet. What are your length, width and height? Also when measuring height, measure the tuning key head end to the top of the keys. |

It's helpful of you to settle out the searching for matching dimensions. A number of us have ended up with Pelican & Storm and that sort of case, but it takes lots of measuring, head-scratching etc. Tradition is fine, and yes, airlines & UPS and FedEx and all shouldn't abuse steel guitars - it's just plain mean - but we still read the occasional horror stories about grievously gaaked-up pedal steel guitars.   If we could all sort-of agree that the traditional standard carpeted-wood steel guitar cases are just plain obsolete beyond home-to-club-to-home travel, the disasters would almost disappear.
I wonder if living where you do, you could come up with a certain database of dimensions of different steels? I mean you keep the dimensions from orders as they come in, but a bit of sneaking around with a tape measure too. You won't get ALL of every single kind, but enough to perhaps quell a good bit of the head-scratching. For a user, ONE case like that is probably all you'd need at one time for every... two or three guitars? As long as you have the foam for each. And don't store them within dart-tossing range of a REEALLY HUGE RIVER'S REEALLY HUGE FLOOD PLAIN?!$&?

| Mr. Mason, I did think about measuring here and their but it seems better to get the measurements from each customer. That was it is for their specific steel. And then I just keep the measurements just to have. But it would be funny just going and measuring cabinets then walking away. Hahaha. The best selling cases are waterproof to 250ft! All come with a lifetime warranty also, so technically this would be the last case you would ever need. As far as the foam that can be replaced. I've used mine for about 3yrs and it's still tight in and out of the case. We also do about 120 dates a year worldwide, so it's not like it stays for long in it. Lol. I hope that helps.. |

Hi Jim,
What is the weight of your lightest case for a double neck GFI ultra keyless? What is the difference in weight between your case and a wooden case? What case design would you recommend for walking a mile on city streets and dragging up and down several flights of stairs? |
