I recently sold some gear and ordered what I believe to be the ultimate in pedal steel amps, the Milkman 85w.
I have owned/played most of the boutique tube amps currently on the market and I feel Milkman is the way to go.
Tim Marcus is a good guy and certainly knows his stuff. He also seems to care about what you are looking for in an amp. Can't wait to get mine! _________________ Emmons PP D10 8X5, GFI Ultra D10,both are setup up "Emmons" style. I went with the Half and Half. Can't go wrong. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

You'll be waaayyy more than just "happy"with the 85w...I play the Half and Half now, mostly for the lower weight...but as a former amp junkie, I still fondly recall the perfect sound of the Big Dog 85w....now increasing age has dictated a new way to judge an amp - the perfect amp now is one that weighs [100 - (your age)] or less.... _________________ https://www.lostsailorspdx.com

Steve you are correct all the Milkman amps are great, it's just the all tube 85w seems to be what I've been looking for, that and a road case with casters to move it with . _________________ Emmons PP D10 8X5, GFI Ultra D10,both are setup up "Emmons" style. I've been playing one of Tim's new offerings - the Dairy Air head 40 watt 6L6x2 - simple (no reverb or tremolo) three eq knobs... affordable (relatively speaking). Been playing it for over a month and I am a believer. I play lap steel, national Resolectric, tele, strat through a 12" Jupiter and play 335 and hollowbody archtop through a Raezer's Edge jazz cab and they all sound amazing with the Milkman. Gorgeous tone, clear, articulate and full. Yes, I had to sell some gear... and make some promises to my lovely wife, but it was totally worth it in my opinion. You go Tim!

Gary,
Let us know how it works out for you. I'm considering one, really only need the head. The 85 watts is more power and weight than I usually need, but if the right one came along used, I'd be tempted.
I'm a big fan of the three knob reverb, would love a mini with that feature , and an effects loop. I know Tim will build whatever you want.
Great amps, and Tim is top notch.
I know you'll enjoy it. |

My Milkman 85 watt Pedal Steel amp arrived today. I've spent the last couple of hours checking it out and I can honestly say it is the best all tube amp I have ever played.
I guess the true test is what it sounds like in a live venue with a full band but at least here at home it has plenty of headroom, very quiet and best of all, killer warm tone! _________________ Emmons PP D10 8X5, GFI Ultra D10,both are setup up "Emmons" style. Believe it or not, it actually will sound even better in a live situation - it somehow has just the right amount of presence to float above everything else without sounding too loud...I loved mine, if it weighed half as much I would have played it till I died... _________________ https://www.lostsailorspdx.com

I am not a stranger to the Milkman line of amps, I also own a Creamer and until recently owned a Half and Half, all very good amps. _________________ Emmons PP D10 8X5, GFI Ultra D10,both are setup up "Emmons" style.
