I have the opportunity to purchase a nice clean Peavey Reno 400 for $60.00
I have heard that this is the same as a Nashville 400 with a Horn installed? If I take the horn out of the equation will this be a Nashville 400?
Thanks

It would be close. But if two N400s left you cold, why would you want another?
Drive the coupla hours and try the Session 500

Potentially, but keep trying. The listing is still up and it had only gone up yesterday, plus it's a niche market item... did you try calling? The seller's phone number is listed in the 'Reply' dropdown menu on CraigsList...

But, I hear you. $60 is different from $350 OBO plus 4-5 hours round trip driving. But you did say you wanted a dedicated, real deal steel amp...

Keep in mind FWIW the 500 is a beast in tone, but also in stature. If you could find a Session 400 somewhere you'd save a few pounds... Keep an eye out online... Anyways, good hunting, I love my Session 400 Smile

But if you pay $60 for an amp you don't like, you now are out $60, AND still don't have an amp you like

To answer the OP. Yes disconnect the horn and use the number two input and it's basically a NV 400...sort of. The earlier eminence speaker sounds pretty good with steel. I've heard the later scorpion speaker isn't so hot. Mine has the eminence. Peavey will deny it, but our own Ken Fox has analyzed the schematic and says it's the same amp.

Thanks all! I have 2 black widow speakers(15") that i plan on installing if i get the reno. I do think I. will go with either the session 500 or a 400 i found elsewhere.
