I have one of these that was given to me by one of the maintenance employees at my old job. He liked to dumpster-dive on the weekends, and pulled this out and brought it to me about 10 years ago. A nice guy.
I hooked it up today out of curiosity. The sliders were stuck, so I used a good amount of contact cleaner/lubricant to free them. Some are still hard to slide until you apply a good amount of effort.
I noticed the "Envelope" is not working now where it worked moderately before. Now when you cut it on with other effects on, or by itself you just get silence. The exception is the sub-harmonic effect which just gives you the low note
Is it possible the slider contacts are physically worn out, or does this sound like component failure?
This unit was made in the early 70's by Oberheim out of CA. I would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks,

I guess the thing to do is pull out the PCB with the sliders and have a look. I would think it might be hard to find an exact replacement part after 40+ years.

Aside from replacing them, the best thing would be to spray them with some Caig Deoxit for Faders. It's made for cleaning and lubricating fader controls. Here's a link to Caig's website.....

Just do a google search to find a convenient place to get some. _________________ Best regards,

Mike,
Thank you. I used the Deoxit, but did not know they had a spray specifically for faders.
I will order some.

I would love to try one of those. Big fan of the early Maestro effects, especially the ps1a phaser and their ring modulator. Their ads were pretty cool too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCI1Jb0Fqlo |

Brett,
It has some pretty funky sounds coming out. Hopefully I can get the envelope follower working.
I have one of those PS1A three button phase shifter also. They have some of the best phase sounds ever.
The Fender Rhodes players like them also.
Mine was given to me by an old bandmate.
I also have one of the old fuzz tones.
A bandmate had an earlier model that sounded better.
I would use his and he would use mine.
Also have the old green and grey wah-wah volume pedal.
These were used around 68-69. I also had a Layffette fuzz.(probably spelled wrong). It was the dirtiest sound ever and would squeal or screech.
