I'm curious just how many Console Grandes Gibson made. You don't see many of them, but they do show up for sale here on the Forum from time to time. I know they were built in the 50's because I had one in 1952. They were made as double necks, triple necks, and some with 7 string necks and most with 8 strings. Some sunburst and some blonds. Gorgeous guitars. I've never seen one as a single neck. Anyway, any history buffs out there? |

I once saw a Gibson consolette at a local music store. it was a d8 and was amazing looking. I had major G.A.S. for that steel. I've never tried non pedal however so It didn't take priority. Wish I would have grabbed it tho for the $700 they wanted. _________________ Mullen G2 SD10 , Lil Izzy Buffer, Goodrich 120 volume pedal, Boss DD-7, Peterson Strobo flip, Peavey Nashville 112 |

They were patented in 1938, but not released that year. The patented guitar does not look like the ones they made a couple years later. I own the 1938 prototype. A D-7, rounded body corners, different control area between the necks, two legs with feet, the pups look like CCs but are not, and they have adjustable pole pieces.
Needs restoration. I have too many projects, so it will be for sale soon. _________________ Dr. Z Surgical Steel amp, amazing!
