Dan Dugmore is a multi-talented musician playing Pedal Steel, Lap Steel, Dobro, Electric and Accoustic Guitars, Banjo and Mandolin. He worked as a member of Linda Ronstadt's Band for 14 years as well as being an active member of James Taylor's Band for 11 years.
Around these parts, he's perhaps best known for his iconic solo on Linda Ronstadt's version of "Blue Bayou." Here's what he had to say recently about Buddy:
"I loved Buddy. It was an honor to know him and I was so thrilled to play on the tribute album [Steve Fishell's 'The Big E Salute'].
I got to do one session with him - I was playing electric guitar and it was a thrill for me. When we went to listen to the playback he reached in his pocket and took out a $10 bill and handed it to the drummer. He had already written on it, and it said…'Tell the engineer to turn the steel up!' We all had a good laugh. He did so much for the steel guitar, he will be missed."
