I want to alert everyone I can regarding a mail fraud parts scamer in Canada. A while back I listed a request for MSA parts to up-grade a guitar that came into my shop/studio. After some research with the obvious sources, I came across someone in Alberta Canada. Name: Randy Reimer. I sent him an e-mail and we opened up a line of communication. We spoke by phone where he confirmed that he could machine the parts I needed, we agreed upon a price and a completion date. He said 2-3 weeks. Friends, it has been 8 weeks since I sent him $ for the parts. In that time I have called him several times, spoke with him and he continues to say he will get them out. This I have come to the conclusion is a lie. I was willing to give him, as I would anyone some time to get to the job, but now I am sure it was a scam. Watch out!!!This guy sounds knowledgeable regarding pedal steels but I believe he has no intension of sending out product. As of the last 3 phone calls, I have placed I connected only with an answering machine. I have started the prosess of contacting the Canadian athorities in regards to mail fraud. But I feel I have been taken on this one. Words of advice to all: Caveat Emptor, Let the buyer beware!
Do buisness only with persons with a positive history. The internet is prey for long range scamers. They will hit you if they can.

I buy my MSA parts from Wayne Link at Linkon Steel Guitars in Canada. Parts are as good or better than the original parts.
As for Mr Randy Reimer just do a search here on the forum and you'll get all the feedback you need. I Need not say anymore.

Seriously, I'm sorry you got burned. Do whatever you legally can to prosecute. Mail fraud is a serious matter.
Wayne Link, mentioned above, is a Forum Member, builder of Linkon Steels, and runs an annual Steel Show. He's one trustworthy dude.

I ordered parts from Wayne Link, and they showed up. He was also pretty good with the communication. So, I'd say, if you're ordering from Canada, make sure it's from Wayne.
Sorry about your experience with this Randy guy (read: jerk). I hope it wasn't too much money, and that the police can do something about it. Considering how important mail-order is to the pedal steel world, people like this make me ill.

Try the Royal Canadian Mounted Police detachment in Sherwood Park, Alberta - Adrossan is just down the road from there and in Strathcona County I believe.

If there ever was a reason for spam, it would be to assault the email inbox of a email scammer.
If you contact the police I hope you don't get the response I got when my house was broken into....."No, we don't take fingerprints....your insurance should cover it.....". Basically, our society pays the police to process and validate insurance claims (and to write up traffic tix)..
Oh - how I've lost the faith in the justice system.

Thank you, everyone for your advise and comments. I will move forward with this and contact the RCMP for one as well as look into other manufacture options.
