Just out of curiosity...how did you handle that change in scale? Did you make a new fretboard for the guitar?

Rusler Uni or '77 LDG> Alesis Midiverb II> Hilton VP> PV LTD 400 (sometimes a Nashville 400). IMHO: PV reverbs stink & always have. I just take the reverb pans out, no more spring rattle while I'm driving to the gig. Very Happy Edit: I also use a script MXR Distortion+ that I plug direct into my steel w/ a double male plug when needed.

Reply to Donny Hinson's question on how I deal with my altered scale length. Actually on my Fender 400 (long scale) where the strings are closer to the fretboard than your typical PSG, thus hiding the fretlines from view while playing. I now can see the the fretlines. Correct intonation after paraflex is now easier, without changing the fretboard. My ears and/or my tuner tell me exactly where and it's slighly to the left of the fretline.

My scale is exactly 24 7/32". (This is easy to change on the old Fenders.) Anything less, notes become muddy; longer they will become brittle. This length gives me the perfect roundness and note definition I desire. Also playing in Eb9 gives the strings more resonance and better tone IMO, as compared to E9 in the 24 1/2" scale.

Old Samsonite folding chair, pedal steel guitar > three-foot cable > volume pedal > ten-foot cable > amplifier

Or, Deluxe34 double stand > 2 lap steels > six-foot cables > Morley ABY > ten-foot cable > amplifier

Most of my gigs are fairly low vol these days. My favorite rig is this:

ShoBud Pro-II (early) > Freeloader > Telonics VP > Polara reverb pedal > '63 non-reverb Deluxe with a Telonics neo 12" speaker.

I also use this setup with my Stringmaster and Williams D-8 PSG. Often use a Goodrich L-120 as well.

When I need more vol, I'll switch to a Vibroverb clone, Showman, Ken Fox Vintage 1-15 or a Carvin BX500. For lapsteel, I'll add in an EarthDrive.

My Telonics VP has the Justin Griffith mod in the foot angle. Way nice.

I had a Dunlop Q-zone pedal hard wired into the effects loop on the Quilter. Mine is set to sound more or less like a dobro.

Sadly, these are no longer being made. But you can occasionally find one. Here are 2 demos.

I've been busy lately so my set up is:

Old Emmons PP ,sonic solution turbo tuner, Durham crazy horse (distortion), Goodrich L120 , strymon el capistan, milkman half and half ( for live ) or milkman 85 (for recording or live if I'm not feeling lazy). I use a Sarno V8 if no amps are being used.

I may experiment a bit more with different delays and I sometimes use different overdrives. I have a couple gigs coming up where I will use a ring modulator. They are essential for sound sculpture/ noise gigs.

(The "particulars" are pretty unimportant, IMHO.) Cool

John, right now, it's "any" guitar, pot pedal, and amplifier. I have many of each, but lately, I'm not as picky.

PSG- vol pedal- Digitech GSP1101-Ashley line mixer-QSC K10. The line mixer also gets my guitar signal and monitor mix when I'm in a situation that affords the individual monitor mix.

My current rig is super portable and sounds great to me. I have not needed more power/sound yet. Emmons Student 3x4, Emmons pot VP, Silver Deluxe Reverb w/ JBL, Sho-Bud Pak-a-Seat. 3 items, 2 easy hauls from the car to club. Guess I am old school!
