About two weeks ago, I received my ShoBud Pro II back from Duane and Jeff, and what a super job! I bought this Pro II from Don Edwards Guitar City in January of 1973. It's a 1972 model. I played the heck out of it for a long time, and then bought a Sho Bud Pro III. Early this year, I decided to buy a new guitar, and after much consideration, decided to have the Pro II rebuilt.

This ShoBud has the Day setup, with seven knee levers. Jeff and Duane have done a wonderful job with this ShoBud. I'm proud to have it back, and I'll begin using it this weekend!

Oh you mean that one?
WOW man; that is really really awesome.
Did A.J. Nelson Do that Body??(I'm sure he did) and was that his idea on the staining??

What a beautiful guitar! That has to be the most nicely figured wood I've seen in any steel guitar yet. Makes my teeth ache.

Ricky: I don't know for sure who did the body; whoever Duane sends it out to. Actually, it was my idea on the lacquer. This guitar was the dark 'red' lacquer, the standard one you see on ShoBuds. Since my Pro III was also the same color, I wanted something different. I told them to not restain it after sanding. They left just enough of the old stain in it to bring out the wood pattern. And 'voila', what a great job they did!

Gary

Does it have the original under carrage or did Duane re-do all that too? That makes my poor ole Frankin look like ^#$&^%...

Yes Gary that is A.J. Nelson himself that re-finishes the bodies for Duane Marrs; when Duane takes in a Re-Do.
So to answer Mike's question; that will be a YES Mike; it's all Duane's upgraded parts and changer on a old Sho~Bud round front big body.
Hey Gary yeah I see that now....How A.J. sanded off the old lacquer and of course got into the old stain; but didn't sand off or bleach the old stain out; and did a treatment and new Lacquer clear/old retro finish...as the old stain not sanded stayed in alot of the grain...and WOW what a finish it turned out to be.

Jerry: We play around the front range area here in Denver, the Dick Frost Band. I go back around 30 years with Dick. Just a bunch of us 'local' boys.
Al: I think is sounds great. The pickups were replaced with George L's, and I can't believe how great they sound.
John M: Thanks to John Macy for his 'guidance'. I was talking to John back in maybe Feb. 2004, and telling him I was getting ready to buy a new guitar, and he told me about Duane Marrs and how he rebuilds the old ShoBuds. So that ended up being the direction I took.

It's essentially a new guitar. The undercarriage has been replaced with Duane's parts.Ricky, you got it right on as usual. This guitar also had the 'wide' pedals, which they have cut off on each side to make narrow. Everything is polished to perfection. Thanks for all of the kind comments. This guitar, before being redone, was pretty beat up; lots of 'bar' marks and small dents and scratches. Many of the old parts were worn out; it did not stay in tune well. So an old ShoBud has been brought back to 'new' life! I hope to have many years of satisfaction with this beauty.

I'll attempt to post some more photos. I'm not real good at this. Nor am I a photographer. Guess the same thing could be said about my steel playing!
In some photos, the guitar is almost a burned dark orange, and in others yellowish. This guitar changes colors in the light!

This photo done by Duane or Jeff at the shop before undercarriage assembly.

Now, here's my photo, from the back. The guitar is yellow now.

Here are a couple from the top:

A few of the undercarriage:

Lloyd was in the shop during this phase, and I asked Duane to have him sign it for me!

Gary, welcome to the "I Can't Believe It's An Old Sho-Bud" club. I haven't seen a single one come out of Duane/Jeff's shop that wasn't drop-dead gorgeous, though your's is certainly near the top. I'll bet Eric West is counting the days till he gets his back. Congratulations.
