I just saw this pic over on the Rickenbacker site, and I thought it was interesting....it's a 1962 model.
I'd have to think these are quite rare, as I don't believe I've ever seen one for sale or heard of anyone having played one.....have any of you had or heard one of these?

There was one on Ebay a couple of years ago. It looked just beautiful, but I've heard that they didn't play very well. Considering the era, I'm not surprised. Pedal steel was in its infancy then. |

I actually bought one of the first Rickenbacker pedal steels a few years earlier than the one shown above.
I was never able to adjust it so it would "return" to tune after pressing the pedals! In frustration, I returned it to the music store and traded it for a Fender 1000.
The later guitars, such as the 1962 above, may have had the "problems" corrected.

I think Lloyd Green played one of these in 1959. It may have been a " Shot " conversion. I have a picture of it some where. We were on the Midnight Jamboree and Lloyd was kind enough to let me play it.
This was also the first time I heard Donnie Young , later know as Paycheck sing.
I just found the picture and it was a three legged Rick. So it must have been a conversion.

Joe,
I have a picture somewhere of James Burton playing one behind Rick Nelson. If I can find it I will E-mail it to you.
