Looks like someone stuck an MSA logo on another guitar. The fretboard markers don't look like MSA's chess pieces for one thing, and I don't think MSA used Sperzel tuners either. |

This is a "Fake" guitar. I sold some parts, Fretboard{SGW} a Lawrencw PU and Sperzel keys to a person in W.Va. He had someone build a body in St Albans. He added the MSA emblem. I have no idea about the Endplates. I called Fret and Fiddle and told them it was a Fake guitar. I get very upset when I see this happening on the Forum.Anyone that knowingly sells these " Fake" instruments should be prosecuted to the limit of the law.Ed Naylor Steel Guitar Works. |

Thank you both for clueing me in on this instrument. I had hoped that one of you knowledgeable folks on The Forum would be able to offer some further info on it. I did receive a call from the dealer Fret and Fiddle and they did not knowingly misrepresent the guitar and have offered me a full refund if I don't want the guitar after it arrives. These folks seem to be very accomodating and want do what it takes to make everything A-OK. [This message was edited by Eric Stumpf on 14 June 2001 at 01:19 PM.] |

For the record, nothing on the guitar mentioned in this thread is of MSA origin. |

Paul, the fake Multi-Kord has yet to surface ... but I'm keeping my eyes open!
Eric, IMHO As to the guitar in question, if it weren't for the bogus MSA plaque, it looks like a pretty nice little 8-stringer actually. Good case. Prob'ly worth $350 anyway.
But you should take the MSA logo off out of respect for Reece. But I do have a CF Martin decal I can send you!

Ah, such a controversial little devil is this guitar! I received delivery of it two days ago and have to say that it's a well-built, great sounding thing. Yeah, the MSA badge is definately coming off and I'll put an engraved plaque of some sort in its place....unless you have a spare Multi-Kord emblem for me, Herb. Since many of the parts on this guitar were sold by me I will have you a logo made for free if you tell me what you want. I talked to the individual that originally bought the parts and told him I was very disgusted with what he did. I will never sell him anything again. The guitar should be OK from a user standpoint. I just hope no one thinks I had anything in this matter. I merely sell parts etc. to help people. Ed |
