Jefferson Airplane's "Living On The Farm" comes to my mind. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Was Johnny Winter a hippy?

He did a credible version of "It's Nothing To Me", previously done by Jim Reeves, Red Kirk, Dick Curless, and Sanford Clark---among others.

Supposedly with Rick Derringer on steel.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ub2x9JWkVc

Here's the original version by Loy Clingman, from 1957:

Written by a "Pat Patterson", which is said to be a fake name for Leon Payne---it certainly sounds like a Payne song and reminds me of his "Psycho".

I can not see the link you posted Mr. Drumm, very bad!
I once had an album called "The Infinite McCoys" where Rick Derringer played lap steel on one track.

I think it's from "Still Alive and Well" from 1973 on Columbia.

http://yeech.altervista.org/Disco2/winter_disco2_stillaliveandwell.html

Produced by Derringer.

It's titled "Ain't Nothing To Me" on the LP and that LP credits the composition to "E. Dunbar", which is clearly a rip-off as the song is clearly "It's Nothing To Me", composed in the 1950s by Pat Patterson/Leon Payne.

The best versions are by Sanford Clark and Red Kirk. Kirk cut it twice.

Here's the original Loy Clingman version; recorded in Phoenix in 1957:

Sort of tooting on my own (ex)horn…

You might really like the stuff from my old band Blueground Undergrass. Sort of Bluegrass/country/funk/rock/jam/? fusion… the first studio album seems to be a favorite: http://www.amazon.com/Barnyard-Gone-Wrong-Blueground-Undergrass/dp/B00000IGKQ

But I'm really proud of the last studio effort. Goofy cover but stellar jams, if I do say so. And $.90! http://www.amazon.com/Newground-Blueground-Undergrass/dp/B000254WOI

I think b0b may still have some in the forum catalog!

I surely remember the Airplane's 'Farm' well. For me, it was sort of filler material for the much more substantial content of Volunteers. Haven't thought of it in xx years.

Jon wasn't that Jerry Garcia playing steel?
Another one: Rhinoceros with "Chickenfoot Rag".

Sure was. And speaking as a fan of Jerry's playing and musicianship, I just listened to this and I can't put it at the top of his accomplishments.

I don't have the l.p. anymore, but I liked it a lot.

They did something Spoonful like on "Bless It's Pointed Little Head" called "Turn Down The Lights".

Got out my Volunteers album, hadn't heard it for over 40 years probably, as soon as I heard The Farm I remembered it. Jerry on steel. Thanks for bringing that one back Joachim.

Will, I just bought an old record by a group called Bodacious DF, Marty Balin was their singer and they had a great guitar player called Vic Smith, who sounded a lot like Jeff Beck. If you want to check it out.
Skip, yes Rhinoceros were great, a dream to have seen them live.

Here's a group from England, I guess they were also Hippies:

Yeah, but Volunteers was something else. "Look what's happening out in the streets...." I listened to it a lot.
Still don't recall 'The Farm,' but 'Wooden Ships' is unforgettable.

ya Charlie, Wooden Ships and Good Shepperd were my favs on the album. It would've been hard to top their previous albums.
How about John Fogert's Blue Ridge Rangers for hippified country.

Mitch Drumm, Yes, that was Rick Derringer on pedal steel. He played a Sho~Bud Pro II that I got from him in 1981. From me it went to Mike Cass.
