Was Johnny Winter a hippy?
He did a credible version of "It's Nothing To Me", previously done by Jim Reeves, Red Kirk, Dick Curless, and Sanford Clark---among others.
Supposedly with Rick Derringer on steel.

I think it's from "Still Alive and Well" from 1973 on Columbia.

Produced by Derringer.
It's titled "Ain't Nothing To Me" on the LP and that LP credits the composition to "E. Dunbar", which is clearly a rip-off as the song is clearly "It's Nothing To Me", composed in the 1950s by Pat Patterson/Leon Payne.
The best versions are by Sanford Clark and Red Kirk. Kirk cut it twice.

| I surely remember the Airplane's 'Farm' well. For me, it was sort of filler material for the much more substantial content of Volunteers. Haven't thought of it in xx years. |

I don't have the l.p. anymore, but I liked it a lot.
They did something Spoonful like on "Bless It's Pointed Little Head" called "Turn Down The Lights".

Will, I just bought an old record by a group called Bodacious DF, Marty Balin was their singer and they had a great guitar player called Vic Smith, who sounded a lot like Jeff Beck. If you want to check it out.
Skip, yes Rhinoceros were great, a dream to have seen them live.

| wow bodacious df, thats pretty obscure.. from 73, never heard of them. listened to some on utube, thanks for the tip. they tried different combinations after airplane none worked for me except hot tuna, and once they dumped spencer D i lost interest in JA. |

Yeah, but Volunteers was something else. "Look what's happening out in the streets...." I listened to it a lot.
Still don't recall 'The Farm,' but 'Wooden Ships' is unforgettable. |

ya Charlie, Wooden Ships and Good Shepperd were my favs on the album. It would've been hard to top their previous albums.
