Does anyone know any female steel guitarists preferably in the nashville area. I'm putting together an all female band for an artist who recently recorded a record with Mutt Lange and has a deal with Capitol Records.

Really hard to find it seems but she's out there somewhere Smile

Thanks folks
Cory

Maybe you can persuade Donna Hammitt but she might be deep into her nursing career (and parenting) and might not be up for this sort of thing anymore.

Anyone know the whereabouts of Lisa Spears? At one time she played for Porter. She was a good player.

Hey Cory. Good luck with that search. I recorded with Mutt for a week in the Bahamas last summer, and played all the steel on Ashley's record. There is some really interesting stuff on there. Can't wait to hear it done. Someone will have a lot of fun playing that gig.

I could shave the beard and mustache, and keep the hair. I'd look like Mom that way... Wink

A good buddy of mine who is not a form member from Bowlingreen, KY is looking for a local guy or gal to join and play steel with his band . They are mostly original material with in the classic rock ,outlaw type country gender. They are developing fast and have some connections and a possible foot in the door towards being signed by a major label . If any one is interested from that area , please give me a PM and I will hook you up with a name and phone number to contact. Also let me say that this is a legit thing and not the bro-country / drinking beer in a pickup truck wile riding down a dirt road music that they play on the radio today . Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Pat, for the most visibility you should create a new discussion rather than adding on to this discussion. Good luck finding a steel player!

I don't know how heavy a duty steel player you need but if I was looking for someone to sell to the masses I would hire this girl. She's imitating Jerry Garcia here but you can't go by that. I bet she could learn to play simple commercial steel. Her main instrument is fiddle.
