So my pedal steel was stolen. It was a one of a kind Emmons S-10 that was rebuilt by Lynn Stafford here in Oregon. It was stolen out of my car in Portland. I didn't know where to post this and can be moved if necessary. I'm putting the word out there to keep an eye out. Its pretty unique and would be easy to spot. Thanks for all the help and happy holidays!
heres a list of what got stolen.
1968 Emmons S-10 Pedal Steel Guitar serial # 1104 WS
Rosewood Mica, Wood neck, Emmons decal, 3 pedals, 4 knee levers, black case
Sho Bud Volume Pedal

Bummer, Rick.
I hope the SOB who took it ruptures a disc.
Did you file a report with local police? It's a long shot, I know, but one never knows.
A Les Paul can be easy to disguise, but a pedal steel does not fly under the radar quite so easily.
This story had a happy ending, but you wouldn't want to wait as long as Buddy Cage did;

Enlist you’re family and friends to search all the pawn shops and music stores in the area. It’s very unlikely that someone stole a pedal steel to keep it, they just want a quick $ dollar. Get the police to help you retrieve it. If a detective was assigned to your case, you’ll want to call him as soon as it’s found.
Many years ago I had two Fender guitars stolen that ended up in a music store. Unfortunately the one I really wanted back was sold before I got there, and the store owner claimed he didn’t keep any records of the sale. |

Sorry for your loss and hopefully they get the bastages who took it! 
There is a lesson here for all of us - Rick has a nice sharp picture of what was taken. Having several shots of your gear from various angles can help prove your claim if it is recovered (obviously the serial number is the best proof). Also, it can be a help for some detective who may not really have a clue what a pedal steel guitar really looks like. |

So sorry to hear about this, Rick. It's everybody's worst nightmare. But there is hope, especially in light of the rarity of pedal steels. In addition to the excellent suggestions already posted, set up a continuing search on eBay as well. Not long back, some friends had their entire van - gear and all - stolen in Houston, TX. Unlikely it will turn up around here, but you never know. I'll be watching the local sources. Unique instrument with that wood neck and all.
Theft is one of the worst personal violations there is in my book. The scum deserves no mercy if caught. |

There is a website, called "Search Tempest", that will allow you to look across hundreds of craigslist & other sites, at will.
Just enter your zip code & the radius you want to look in. Be sire to add different attributes, the thieves might just give hints rather than straight-off descriptions.

ebay, craigslist, pawn shops, music stores and informing the steel guitar forum with pics, as you have, are the best bet.

Nothing lower than a thief!! Sorry for your loss and I sincerely hope it is returned unmolested. I know the feeling as I had a 1953 Fender Telecaster that was handed down from my dad stolen from our band trailer (Uhaul)hehe!

I love a story with a happy ending like this. I am absolutely for Sharia law when it comes to theft, with the victim being allowed to do the "amuptation". Funny thing is...most thieves would NOT know what a PSG is, so how would they know it was worth anything, or where to fence it?

There's a lesson here. GET INSURANCE. Nothing can fix the emotional devastation at the loss of a beloved instrument but being able to buy a replacement helps.
Every guitar player I know, with only one exception, has had their guitar(s) stolen.
