Provided it works, it's a good deal. I've only seen a few of these. The Miller Custom and Marlen were the "entry level" steels back in the '60s. These were simple pull/release models, usually with nice (read: pretty) cabinets, and they were priced at a little over half of what it would cost to buy one of the "big four" models back then (Emmons, Sho~Bud, ZB, and MSA). While there's not a lot there by modern standards, it still might be good as a starter guitar for someone who didn't want to spend a lot of money.

I had it's twin.

I turned it into this.

Underside looks like this

The black paint is used on the cheaper Millers since he didn't have to polish the metal. It does come off but it's a bunch of work to get it polished well. I don't think that there really is any other cheap aspect to the lower line of Millers. Everything else seems the same except for fancier wood work or less changes. I don't think I would do that work again as the black can be cool. I find single neck uncomfortable as far a knee levers go. But, I think the tone of my single neck is good. The coil tap is cool. Scale is smaller on those Millers, I think it's 23.

It is pull release.

Back then , early 70's I guess, I worked part time in a small music shop in Norwalk Ct which eventually grew into Daddy's Junky Music Store , , I knew the owner Fred B. very well. Anyway, we had a Miller catalog and when I decided to buy my first Steel I called and tried to order one, around $300. Obviously a student guitar. Well they hemmed and hawed for about two weeks before telling me they couldn't provide one. They claimed they had no wood. So , I drove to Sam Ash in NYC and bought a Maverick the same day.

The Miller catalog had beautiful guitars in it , but seriously, I had no idea how a Pedal Steel worked or how they were different from each other. But I sure liked the photo's !
