I went down to London Kentucky this week and had my ZB D-10 gone through by Greg Jones. I've had a very busy season and wanted the guitar tweeked and regulated for the winter season. It plays beautifully.
I got a chance to see Greg play a 1966 D-10 ZB on the Stage of the Renfro Valley Barn Dance Saturday night. Absolute quintessentia
Brumley sound from The Buckaroos recordings. He captured that sound perfectly on stage playing classic country steel guitar with a world class band. He then put MY guitar on stage for the next show and did the same thing. Its nice to hear your own guitar being played though concert mains by a great steel guitar player. I just get over the sound of these ZB's.

Frank, we're waiting for winter to hit here in Buffalo. Anti-freeze is on the top of the list. |

I have a red ZB D10 in excellent condition. It was built by Zane foe Bobby Garrett. It has Zane's signature on both fretboards. I aquired it from Bobby in about 1970 when he decided to give it up and get a real job. Still plays and sounds great. Jody. |

I couldn't agree more Kevin. I just picked up
a 70 model D10 and having played every major
brand, including a Push pull, this guitar has
the best sound I have ever had. It would have
to go a long way to beat my Sho bud but I think it does. |

Vintage Fender Twin Reverb, or Fender Custom Vibrasonic;Fender '59 Bassman with retro fitted 15"...
any of these are a "match made in heaven" for a definitive ZB sound

I agree with Dave's assesment about Fender tube amps. I tried the ZB with the new Fender Custom Twin 15 and it sounded great. I'm using a Webb 614-E right now and loving it. Chuck, I had the same experience as you. I gave up some of the best sounding guitars ever including Sho-Bud and Emmons to play the ZB Custom. Dangit guys,i've never been around a Z B before, but i sure love the Tom Brumly sound.what kind of pedal feel, ect did they have?were the pullers single, double or what?
I see the antique tractor shows, they drove them, but not as nice as todays tractors!!how about the Z Bs,do they got the power steering ect.or do you have to crank hard!!
Just curious!! farris |

Farris, I'm going to try and get Greg Jones on here to answer your questions. From what I understand the sixties guitars had triple raise capability. The seventies and on double. Unfortuantely the pedal action on alot of the ZB's were not that good mainly do to misadjustment and poor maintenance. Greg Jones has solved all that and can make a ZB play smooth and quiet. I have a restored 73 that plays very smooth and is very accurate on the tuning meter. Greg Jones has spent years working on ZB's and understands them very well. Once they are set up, lubricated, and adjusted correctly they are very stable. I've played mine on hundreds of gigs with no problems. I have to admit that when I first got mine some of the pedals played like truck clutches because the guitar was so out of adjustment. Also, the knee levers on ZB's were not very well comfortably placed. Mine were realigned and replaced with polished alluminum adjustables. They look factory. |
