Is there such a thing?
Please, I'm needing somewhere to start(again) here. I played 10 string for a few months 'til last year... so now I'm just getting back to it with an S-12 w/ 4p-5k.
I'd like a copedant close to the straight Emmmons setup that I'm somewhat familiar with, only in Ext E9th.
Any suggestions? Or should I try to wing it?
Thanks.. it's good to be back..

Just set it up like 10 string E9th, then add the 11th string pull G# to A on your B pedal.

If you have a lever that lowers your G# strings to G, you should extend that to the 11th string too.

The F lever should either raise the 12th string E to F, or lower it to C#. I use the C#.

I also lower the 12th string to D on the "C" pedal, but that's unusual. I like it.

Thanks b0b and Winnie! Much appreciated.
I was hoping one of you two would chime in, and you BOTH did.. cool.
Funny how those 2 strings make this thing look like a HUGE monster compared to a 10 string.
Gotta change into my mechanic's hat now.. and then the woodshed awaits..

Thanks Again

Hey Rick,
Here's one that you can use to play just about any type of music you'd like to, including western swing and jazzy type things. Have a good 'un..JH

Rick,

What brand of guitar are you playing? If you're using an Emmons set-up than only pedal 4 needs an assignment, right? You can play plenty of 6th sounding stuff with what you have. Here's some Ext. E9 tunings I found searching the forum:

Bengt Erlandsen

LKL2 RKR1
LKL1 LKV LKR P1 P2 P3 P4 P5 P6 P7 RKL RKR2
F# F G#
Eb D-C#
G# A
E F F# Eb F#
B C# C# C# Bb
G# G A A# A#
F# F G#
E F Eb
D C# Eb
B C# Bb
G# G A A#
E F# C#

Earnest Bovine's S-12 tunings here > http://b0b.com/tunings/ebovine.html

good luck,
Drew

Just an update about my current setup. RKR2 has been changed. I got more pedals than I need, but for some certain phrasings they are required. I downsized the setup to 4+5 to show which peds/levers I think should go first.

Bengt Erlandsen, current setup.

E F# C#

Optional 4p+5k setup

E C# F#

Additional info about the 4+5 setup.

LKL: The low C# should utilize the split tuning screw to stop the 12th string at C# before E's start to raise to F. That way one can use it as a root note for either a minor or a major chord.

P1: The G# to A# on the 11th string is not required for most things but there are some nice voicings to be found with that change there. The G#-A# on the 6th string is a keeper.

P4: The C pedal. on the 12th string I prefer E-F#, bob likes E-D on the same pedal. Either one will work. Try both and see what you like.

RKR: Instead of raising both 1&7 to G# one might like F#-G instead. Makes it a little more easy for som blues IMO. Does certainly feel different compared to the F#-G#.

Bengt Erlandsen

If I only had 3p+4k then LKV and P1 are deleted from the 4p+5k setup.
