The rule of thumb a few years back seemed to be about $800 per neck, which is about what I paid for my T8 about 5 years ago. However, when I advertised it for sale here a month ago, no one was interested. In looking over prices for Stringmasters on eBay I can see why. It appears the market has fallen significantly so I'm going to hang on to mine and wait for it to go back up or my kids can sort it out in probate!

I bought mine from the forum 3 years ago for $1800 CDN and sold it a couple of years later for the same.
Great guitar, but I only know one tuning, and already had a D8 Stringmaster...Jerry |

I remember that Stringmaster guitar of J Fletcher's; real nice.
Gayle, I suggest you do a Forum search under the name Stringmaster and you will find a history of some of the transactions.
For what it's worth, I have had a Triple 8 with a 22.5" on The Forum since March 2015 for $1750 plus shipping/insurance. Like John's guitar, it has not moved.
From my perspective, John is correct and that the market has fallen recently and like him, I intend to keep mine rather than sell for it for less. I had several guys offer from $1050- $1225 which to me seemed a tad on the low side.
Many of the ones I have seen on EBAY seem to have gone through both the First and Second World Wars.

| From "window shopping" here on the SGF I've gotten the impression that the "per neck" pricing doesn't hold up for T3's and Quads. I gather that us older folks are avoiding the bulk and weight of the multiple necks. Just my two cents. |

I've seen them sell for $1250 and I've seen people ask over $2000 but do they sell at that price?
It depends on who's in the market and what condition guitar do they want. There have been a few on here lately but that is not always the case. I waited months and months for one to appear and finally bought one from Gryphon with no case for$1500. It was Knocked about a little, which I think is not a bad thing but someone else may want a pristine guitar. The case was no issue to me as I will build it one but it doesn't leave the house anyway.
All you can do is put it out there and see. Christmas time may not be the best time either.

I have a T-8 that I recently picked up, that needed a couple pickups rewound. Once I get them back, I'm probably gonna ask @$1200 for it. That seems fair. I see them for much higher, but they never sell.

Also,the listing you linked to isn't a Stringmaster - it is the previous model called a Custom Triple.
Yes, let's get together in the new year. I've been to one of the South London Steelies get togethers which was fun but they keep clashing with dates when I'm away.

No that steel is not mine, nor is it a Stringmaster.
I've never bought or sold anything on EBay.
(I'm not against it, I've just never used it before).
Yes, the price floor seems to have fallen out in recent years!!
