There's lots of great classic country in this video series and Mike Johnson is the extraordinary steel player. He tears it up on his break (around 1:50) on this one and by the look on his face he couldn't believe what he just played. Whoa!

Which one? No link in your post.

These are some great shows, and there have been a number of threads here on the subject.

Here's one, Mo Pitney on Borrowed Angel with Mike on pedal steel.

And here's the thread with a post from Mike:

My three favorite living players are, Mike Johnson, Paul Franklin and Tommy White. In no particular order.

No way can I limit it to three, and Lloyd Green would have to be in the mix if I did.

I think Sonny Garrish is one of the unsung heroes of steel guitar. A lot of times when I am listening to a country song and the steel work gets my attention, I look at the credits and it's Sonny Garrish. Very Happy

Dang. Forgot Lloyd and Sonny. My 2 biggest influences when first learning. And Doug Jernigan. You just don't hear much about them anymore.

Mike Johnson with Rhonda Vincent I love their reaction at 1:29 when he's doing his solo.

If anyone can get ahold of a copy of the episode of "Larry's Country Diner" featuring Darryle Singletary doing A-11, as well as a tune or two by Joanie Johnson (Mike's wife), they are in for a treat.
