I have just bought this Alesis multimix 8 USB in really good condition (cosmetically that is) but without the PSU which is 18v-0-18v ac at 500mA. I am finding it impossible to get hold of an original PSU but I have here at home an 18 volt 1 amp transformer. Is there any way I can use this by linking the two 18 volt inputs in paralell? Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers Dave.

Nope. It'll want 36V with a center ground.
If you have a phase inverter, you MIGHT get there, but I doubt it.

It might be possible to find a transformer that does that. Our American electrical distribution does something similar since our "120" is actually 240 with earth in the middle, stepped down at the pole from around 18kV in a single wire

If you can use the 120V version there are plenty of places here in the States that have them.

I think that's for American voltage. The OP is a Brit.
