I don't know about the chip upgrade, but the NEO EPS12C speaker Tommy White suggested made a big difference in mine, along with making it lighter too! ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

@ Dyke, I got a great deal on here on this 112 and planned to go with that neo speaker , but just wanted an opinion of some one that was in the know about the chip modification. |

I'm not sure what brand chips that Ken was using but part of his upgrade was the Jensen NEO speaker which sounded great as did the EPS and the reverb pan that Tommy suggested. I don't think there is any audible difference in the chips that Ken installed and the Burr Brown. I've used both and I think they're the same values.

Thanks David. unless I hear different about the chips I will just move on to the speaker upgrade as time and money allows me. Any one know more about the (REVERB) tank part of the Tommy White mod . |

I have the Burr Brown OPA2134PA op-amp chips installed in my NV112. That is what Ken Fox uses. Cleans up the amp and for my uses that is all that is needed, except possibly the reverb (I use reverb in my POD X3 not the built in reverb in the amp).
I've tried two different EPS-12C Eminence speakers and they were too bright. If I were playing a Telecaster through the NV112 the EPS-12C speaker would be great.
I will concede my Franklin has Lawrence 710 pickups and those pickups tend to be on the bright side so I don't need an "over bright" amp or speaker.
The new Travis Troy TT12 Eminence may work much better, for steel, than the EPS-12C. There is a thread on the speaker and it, apparently, is not the overly bright like the EPS-12C. I use an EPS-15C speaker and its great, but Eminence did not "clone" the speaker response on the 12C model. |

Is there any difference between the Burr Brown vs the TI chips? I know the Burr Browns are no longer made but can be found by searching some electronics parts supply stores. I ask because a friend into electronics had a parts drawer full of different OP amps and I happen to sort through 12 or so but all are Texas Instrument chips. |

TI acquired Burr Brown many years ago. Burr Brown chips are made by TI |

Thanks Ken. I figured that but wanted to make sure a Burr Brown didn't hold that extra "w0w" as compared to the TI chip. BTW- I didn't find any of the BurrBrowns OPA2134PA in his bin but there were some with other part numbers. |

But it has to be a 2134PA chip. There are lots of different TI Op Amps. |

As Jack stated, OPA2134PA is the number for the chip replacements being used in these mods/upgrades. My post was eluding to the other "Burr Brown" chips of another part number that I did see while looking through the bin, nothing I could use however.
BTw- it appears Ken Fox has gotten a shipment of these chips in as well. |
