I bought this book and video and wow what a help. Coming from all-pull it has been difficult grasping the difference. This book and video really helps and worth way more than the $20 that it costs.

He usually sells the booklet on eBay listed as "Pedal Steel Guitar Methodology P/P Guide Booklet" for $15. Better yet, he also sells a combo package of the book and 2 DVDs as "Pedal Steel Guitar METHODOLOGY P/P Book & DVD's Package" for only $20.

Who wrote it, Ron? It's not obvious, at least not to me...

Hard to find a better guy, or anyone more knowledgeable about push/pull instruments or pedal steel guitars in general. Clem is the guy who Mike Johnson trusts to work on his guitars.

Ive had that book for years and yes it is worth its weight in gold!
Met Clem many years ago at his steel guitar Emporium in Nashville. While he is an amazing tech, he told me that he doesn't play a note. I wonder if he was kidding or if he was really being serious?

I think Clem could have become a pro picker, but he chose to become a pro tech instead, helping the pro pickers keeping their guitars in shape for the road - and at that he´s The Master, bar none (IMHO).

BTW: Have you ever wished there´d be a way to add changes to the p/p w/o having to tear the guitar apart?

Check this out! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pedal-Steel-Guitar-Another-Use-For-4-Hole-Bell-Crank-On-A-Push-Pull-PP-Steel-/272004928352?hash=item3f54c1d360:g:qrEAAOSwsB9WD8du

Another first class idea from Clem! Scroll down to read the description (Ebay).

that's my favorite.
anyone wanting to maintain their p/p should read this. if it makes sense, that's all you need.
if it doesn't make sense, get an all-pull.

Very helpful. Has anyone produced a similar instruction set for all pull guitars?

I met Clem in 1982 when he had his Steel shop in Minneapolis. It was my 1st visit to the States....He was a Fine friendly gent. The shop was wall to wall with Emmons and Sho-Buds. A real picker's paradise Very Happy

Just bought the book from Clem through eBay. I think I got the book 3 business days after ordering - spectacular service. I've just perused the book but it looks to be full of practical hands-on info. about pedal steels in general and P/P Emmons guitars in particular. It appears to have been written in 1983, so don't expect anything about contemporary steels, but there haven't been a lot of P/P's made since then anyway... Smile Written in a conversational style, and very detailed. If you own a P/P, or are thinking of getting one, and want to know how it works, this is a real valuable book. Thanks, Clem!

Tom. You can contact Clem directly at his email:

freedomsauce@comcast.net

Clem is knowledgeable and a straight up guy to deal with. He has helped me immensely with my pushpull. You can easily add changes to your pushpull using his 2 piece bellcranks. He will set up kits for anyone looking to add changes to these Emmons guitars.
