Purchased a Peavey Studio Pro 112 Amp a few days ago as a practice amp. It has no volume when plugged into either the High Gain or Low Gain inputs. If I plug it into the jack on the Return side of the EFX Loop I have sound but non of the sound controls on the amp work. Is this a bad amp or is this "operator error"? |

I don't know the amp but assuming that it has an EFX SEND jack, stick a plug in there and exercise the jack with a dozen in/outs with the plug. Then try plugging into the front of the amp again and see if that changes anything. |

Thanks Jon, Exercised them all with no results. If I plug into the input side on either the "High" or "Low" Gain and turn on the amp, it very loudly cracks and pops. Again. if I plug into the EFX on the receive side, I get sound but have no control over volume and anything else. |

One more thing to try is to run a cord from the EFX SEND to EFX RETURN. Then plug the guitar into the front again. |

Jon:
Tried that. I get volume but it cracks and pops, thought I was shot for a second, and if I hit the amp, it gets louder, pops and cracks or dies out completely but at the same time no controls. Think I have a bad amp that is going back to the guitar store tomorrow. Had it three days and it was used. My fault, I asked if it was tested and everything worked and the answer was yes. Guess I should have tested it myself. Thanks for your help.
