I have an older 70's Takamine EF340 Dreadnought guitar. Its a martin d18 copy.
Anyhooo....It has always functioned 100% and sounds great when plugged in. Recently I noticed that it no longer works when plugged in. No sound comes from the amp. I replaced the battery but there is no difference. Ive looked inside and all the wires seem to be connected. Im not sure what Im missing. Thanks all

| Hey Jeff, I'm not 100% sure, but It may be the input jack? I had a similar issue with an Ovation...take it to a good repairman and save your hair! Ha! |

gotcha. Yeah its too involved and since theres no power besides the ol battery I can't really check for juice haha

I have a 90's NP15C. I have had the same issue several times.
If it has the onboard pre-amp sometimes the switches, dials, sliders or whatever get gunked up with dust, sweat, or guitar polish.
Try manipulating the switches etc.. a few times. If that doesn't work remove the battery and VERY CAREFULLY use some contact cleaner, alcohol or something similar.
That usually does it for me.
If that doesn't work then certainly take it to a qualified repairman.

I got her figured out. I tinkered around with the controls a bit to jar them free of debris. The real issue was the input jack. Its the strap button/input type jack and i just had to turn the cable about 90 degrees while plugged in to get signal. guess somethings not making good contact in there, probably needs a cleaning

| Good on ya, Jeff! I've had success cleaning input jacks with a 30 caliber brass bore brush attached to my drill, at low speed. The innards get tarnished and can't make contact with the cable plug. The brush will shine it up. |

| Scrub the contacts with an isopropanol soaked Q-tip to get rid of the tarnish. Just ensure that the Q-tip is not drooling isopropanol into the guitar. |
