What is the first thing to look for in trouble shooting.
I've never opened a volume pedal and don't even know what is inside.

What do you mean by "quit."
Stopped passing any signal?
Stopped moving?
Stopped changing volume?
I don't know whether the Dunlop uses a string or a rack and pinion, pics might help.
Look for wires off the terminals, broken or loose string.
Take the bottom plate (assuming there is one) off and take pics of the mechanism and the wiring.

If you haven't opened it up yet, they're dead simple, unless they're active pedals (and most aren't).
Inside you'll find that there's a metal band (sounds like an invitation to trouble there) that goes around the pot shaft and turns the pot as you move the pedal, and then the wires from the input jack go to the two ends of the pot, and the output hot wire comes off the wiper. Jim says look for the broken band. If you're a handy tool-shed kinda guy, you might replace a broken metal band with a few inches of chalk-line cord (that's good and durable, but clean the chalk off first).

You guys are shooting in the dark here. Dunlop has at least three pedals, both gear and band drives:

I have the GCB-80 High Gain. It is solidly built, gear drive, passive circuit board and never any problems. I don't know anything about the others.
James, which model do you have? And as Lane said, what is the problem?

All it says low friction band drive. I guess that is a dead give away as to whether or not it has a band.
Here is a picture of it. There doesn't seem to be anything broken. It says band but I don't see anything that looks like an actual band. The problem I have is that sound doesn't come out of it at all. I went thru a period where it worked sometimes and sometimes it didn't. Then it just quit.

Does the pot turn when you move the pedal open and closed? I don't see anything connecting pedal to pot.

Something weird just happened. While I had it open, I blew some canned air in it and now it is working again.I guess there is no point in pursuing this anymore until it quits again, if it quits. I am sorry for the inconvenience.
