My Milkman Pedal Steel Mini arrived yesterday. This is one fantastic amp! I'm really glad that I bought it... Thanks to Bob Hoffnar, who is an authorized dealer. Thanks to Tim for building this.
If any of you NYC area forumites have wanted to try one of these out, you are welcome to come by my studio to give it a test drive.
Here it is next to it's older brother from a different family.....
This Mini has the 12" Jupiter speaker.

Welcome to the family, Mike. They sound better with the yellow light lit. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Bob,
I like the Jupiter, it reminds me of good, old Jensens, or Oxfords. I'll know better after some break in time. I don't see myself changing it out... at some point I am going to get an extension cab with a 15" for another flavor. I got the Mini with the 12", because I almost always prefer 12" to 15" speakers.
The amp is really versatile due to the incredible set of tone controls.... I got it to sound close to the late 62 Bassman/65 Fender Reverb combo sitting next to it, got an almost identical sound to my all time favorite 64 Deluxe Reverb, and it will punch like the custom shop, hand wired, Vibroverb reissue.
Tim nailed the Fender thing.... but better.
Brian, the Jupiter is 4 ohm. |

Last night I plugged in several different speakers, a Sica 15", a Telonics 12", and a Tone Tubby Alnico Red. The amp had a different flavor with each of them, but they were all good..... really versatile, with lots of possibilities. Now I want a matching extension cab...... |

Mike...Contact Rick Johnson. He built a 15" cab to pair with my 'Mini'and the match was perfect (my amp is two tone tolex, Fender brown and tan)...Bob H..Has the Jupiter replaced the Telonics as the speaker of choice in the Milkman amps? |

Thanks David I'll check it out.
As to the Jupiter, I think that the Telonics has superseded the Jupiter as the speaker of choice... I have a Telonics in my Nash 112, so I was able to A/B them. I believe that I like the Jupiter a bit better, but not by much. The Telonics is well broken in, and the Jupiter is new, so we'll see in a month or so. |

Ill throw in another thumbs up for the Jupiters. On Tims recommendation, I put 2 12" ceramic 50 watt jupiters into a 68 fender bandmaster 2x12 cabinet, and
I'm very impressed. I have 2 original jbl d120fs that need reconing, but now I'm not sure if I will. Great speakers. |

Congrats on your new amp Mike!
I couldn't be happier with my Milkman 40w Mini 1x12. Thanks to this forum, I was lucky enough to buy mine with no wait from Steve Lipsey after he switched to the even lighter Half n Half. I sent it to Tim a few months ago and he brought it up to current spec and installed fresh tubes. Sounds gorgeous, even amplifying a beginner like me!
Best,

Yup, Chris, you caught me at a weak moment - I regret selling that amp...the Half and Half is TRULY GREAT, but the Mini was AMAZING.... _________________ https://www.lostsailorspdx.com

Thanks Chris... it was great to get the amp with no wait through Bob H. A beautiful amp.... and I suspect that the wait is going to get longer! |
