Hey all - I'm absolutely tickled to be picking up my new (to me) Sho Bud D10 Super Pro from Damir tomorrow morning. This Marrs conversion steel will be my first D10 and will represent a step up for me in many ways, but on a practical note, it means added weight compared to my Stage One.

The guitar comes with a case which I'll use for now, but I'm looking into options for a hard case with solid wheels to make my life a little easier in the long term. I've done lots of searching and there's a few threads with good info/options like Sierra, SKB, DellCase and so forth, but all of the posts seem to be a few years old, some of the links are now dead, etc and I'm having trouble finding anything else online.

Could any of you fine folks point me in the right direction for some options to check out? Id rather not build/modify a generic case if possible but would consider it the price difference is significant and it will still do the job. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
-b

I bought split cases from Kevin Hatton years ago for my Pro III and they've held up well over time. Solid wheels and solid construction overall. As far as I know he still makes them

Hello,

I recently recieved a new case with wheels made by Kevin Hatton for my shobud s10 6139, It is an exceptional case, great build quality and construction, and fits my guitar like a glove...

I highly recomend his cases.

If it had no case to start with, get wheels. Not much more money. Definitely splits. Even with a single neck.

Hey everybody! Sorry for the delay in response, finished up some shows out of town and drove straight from Nashville to Denver yesterday, so just kinda catching up.

I really appreciate all the replies both to the thread, as well as some very nice personal messages - this has given me more than enough to go on to investigate my options...

Paul - yes, the case it came with is solid and will do just fine for awhile, I'm just nervous about the latches and handle once it gets put in a van etc. for road gigs, and there are a couple internal blemishes/loose case parts that may be different from when you had the guitar perhaps, so it's showing a bit more wear. I will be moving this steel a lot and so a nice, lightweight case(s) does make sense long term, but if it ain't broke (yet... *knocks on wood*) then don't fix it right?

Chris - hah! You're spot on. This thing is a beast and I'm ready for it, and young enough (29) not to know better still... but I've also been playing 6-string in a band for almost 8 years that's hauled around a Hammond A100 and Leslie 145 to every gig, so I've done my fair share of Macho-Man'ing already! I've got some real load in horror stories with that monster...

Anyone is of course welcome to chime in further but I've got lots to research already, and hopefully this thread will serve as a more recent archive of the many solutions available for a Super Pro or similar D10...

Cheers to all from Sunny Colorado!

Hi Ben, another thing to consider is that if you're playing on the road a lot you will not always be the one carrying your guitar to and from the van, and other band members/ stage hands won't have the same discretion on when and when not to use the wheels. I don't own a case with wheels, but if I did I bet I'd just carry it most of the time so it's not bouncing around and vibrating every day.

Another good point Brett, I've often worried about that when I see amplifiers getting pushed across bouncy/rocky surfaces in road cases... yeah it's in a case, but all those little pieces of solder and filaments don't like that jostling in the same way a steels underside probably doesn't...
