Seeing the thread about the G2 vs RP got me wondering. I play a D-10 Herby Wallace, & was wondering what the difference are between the RP & HWP, in tone, sustain, mechanics, pedal action, etc. The usual stuff. I hear a definite difference between my LeGrande D-10 & the HWP, but I've never played a RP or a G2 for that matter; in fact my HWP is the only Mullen I've ever played.

Anyone familiar with the differencebetween HWP & RP, or pre-RP?

BTW I LOVE my HWP; stays in tune for months at a time if I ain't gigging, & has tone for days.

The cabinet size on RP's are smaller. The HWP was pretty much the same as Pre-RP's. Herby liked the tone and sustain a little better on the Pre-RP's so he had Mullen to continue to build the HWP the same as the Pre-RP's until the G2 came out, then he wanted them built like a G2 with maybe a couple of small differences. I still think a lot of the Pre-Rp guitars are some of best sounding and playable guitars of today.

I'll tell you what, I played them all, HWP,PRP,RP,G2,Discovery... and they are all great guitars... I have never played a Mullen that didn't sound great, and with the smoothest pedal and knee lever action out there ...

Pre RP and the HWP = Tone Tone.
It is sorta like a comparison of a tube amp and a transistor amp. The HWP and tube amps have tone. The RP and transistors have less. Great guitars and I can't tell any difference in the way they play.
