I was having trouble with my new steel king. The reverb had some hum. Sam sent me an email and let me know I was playing with the master volume up to high. Its great to have Sam reply to our needs. Thanks Sam.

| You should be able to put the master on 10 without a reverb hum issue, no? |

| I should hope so, I have the master on my steel amps pegged to 10 all the time and never had that problem. I would think there is something goofy somewhere on that amp. |

There are parts of my house where the electrical field is pretty noisy and I cant really use the spring reverb at all on any amp because of the hum. Reverb tanks are sort of like pickups in that they are sensitive to EM fields. Try moving the amp to another spot and see if that's the issue.

I picked mine up yesterday and played it for about an hour. Finding a good tone is fast and simple. The amp seems to sound good almost anywhere you set the controls(within reason). Very clear and clean with a full fat sound . I also like the speaker voicing. The one I have doesn't have any reverb hum or unwanted noise.
So far, so good. |

I love the overall sound of the amp. I just don,t like the reverb humm.I tried doing what sam said to do and it does fix it somwhat.I have been playing it side by side with my Webb and I believe Iam geting a better sound from the Fender. I have been useing the Webb for over twenty five years.Iam useing the setings that Buddy is uesing or close to it.My Webb can be turned all the way up and doesn't have that humm.

When I turn the reverb off the hum goes away.The sound Iam hearing is hum like the single coil pickup hum.When I turn the reverb off I get the usual high power hiss that I get from the Webb.The Webb can be turned all the way up without that humm. Of course you get more hiss when you do that.

My local dealer got in a new Steel King, called me to come down and try it out. I was impressed with the warmth, as well as the sweetness of the high end. I cranked the amp in his studio to the level I would be using it on a job, and when I stopped playing to chat, there was a low end feedback-like sound, until I turned the reverb off. It is a really sweet sounding amp, Fender in every way. However, my old Nashville 400 has been very tough and dependable, and the support I got from Mike Brown shortly after I bought the amp made a great impression on me. So I don't know......the Steel King is sweet, though....

| I will be playing the steel king out this weekend and will post my evaluation of the amp. I also have two Webb amps which are great. I do find the steel king to have more tonal range but not as much presence. I am told that the Steel King comes alive at higher playing levels. I intend to give it the test this weekend. |

I played my Steel King out this past weekend and it sounded big and full. I noticed that it did not project like my Webb does. I played it in the same building where I played the Webb last with about the same crowd. I had to push it harder to get the sound out to the end of the room which made the stage level a bit louder then I like. The amp does have a nice full sweet tone. I shouldn't compare it to a Webb which costs' $1000 more. I feel the Steel King is a good sounding amp with user friendly features and a good value for the money. I am not sorry that I bought one, and would not hesitate to recommend this amp to a close friend.

| I had trouble with reverb hum on my nV 112 and found that if you have a about wall wart Power supply too close to the amp ...the reverb will pick up the hum....mine was about 12" from the back of the amp ....relocating it help the hum to be very minimal... |
