You may remember the post a few months back where a member from the Netherlands said he paid $4500 cash in advance for a new Emmons.

He is now disabled and would like to sell it, even though it has not yet been delivered.

The post was closed, thru no fault of his own. I think it turned into an argument of if the guitar even existed.

He trusted Emmons and expected them to work with him.

Today I recieved this email form him:
quote:
"
they didn't pay me back my $4500
the case is with the attorney general but till today they didn't respond till them

I can't find the words, but this is what I never had expected from a company...
well just to let you know that this or my writing on the forum wasn't just air but honestly true.

greetings
cor

I think this is the one you want Joey.

I can tell you guys that Cor is the most honest man in The Netherlands when it comes to a fair deal.He delivered me some great steel guitar parts that he had no use for.I took them of his hands for a small amount of money.I got 2 endplates,2George L's66,2fretboards(Emmons),2aluminum necks(Emmons)and i paid the man(i think)$300...could be a bit more...but not much. What i want to say is that this man needs our support. If you see this message Cor Please give me a call.

Ron

That's it. Thanks Ron.

I now recall what happened. The post was closed because Rebecca Lashley requested b0b close it.
b0b on vacation and sent me an email requesting I close it.

Anyway the matter is not resolved.

I don't understand why folks pay cash in advance for anything.

Overhere in The Netherlands it's normal to do business this way.
But at one thing you are right...This is to much money to pay in one time.Even if the Emmons company has a good name. And they do HAVE a good name.I like their Steel guitars.Heck....i owned a couple of them. You know....i am in contact with "Mister Papic" the man with the Promat steels..He only charges a 500 Euro deposid on the P/P.That's about 18%-20%.A fair deal i think.

20% sounds fair.
Ed Fulawaka has no downpayment. He'll sell it to the next on his list if you don't honor your comittment.

BTW, my emails to Cor get returned undeliverable.

I don't think it is right to close a thread because of a request from a company being "raked over the coals" for lousy business practices. If it was closed because b0b thought it was getting way out of hand (which I don't think it was), that is one thing ,but to close it because Emmons (Rebecca) wanted closed is wrong in my opinion.

After reading the old post again, I believe that if Emmons can provide proof that Cor's guitar actually has been built (actually finished and sitting in a corner somewhere collecting dust), then Emmons should have the right to wait until the guitar is sold before paying back the money. If it has not been built, then Cor should receive a refund (maybe minus a cancellation charge). The key here is proof that the guitar exists at Emmons.

My suggestion to Cor is to take delivery of the guitar and try to sell it. I don't think Emmons is going to put any effort into selling your guitar for you. Why should they? They already have his money.

There will be someone that would love this steel. It sounds great from what i hear.

instead of asking that the thread be closed
Emmons(Rebecca) should have laid their cards on the table for all to see

Isn't there a wait for new Emmons guitars to be built? I would imagine that someone in line would jump at the chance to buy one that's already built and just sitting there?

It's too bad that a couple of manufacturers and their antics are making it look bad for all those that aren't misusing this low cost outlet for their advertising and promotion.

I hope the guy gets his money.

I don't believe Cor is "Slinging Crap".
In his original post http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum5/HTML/008225.html
he said he tried many times to contact them.
He also said he paid $4500 last Decemember.

When the post was closed, he respectfully kept it off the Forum. Only recently did he write to me to inform me the matter is still not resolved.

I am the one that posted his update.

IMO, an Emmons dealer on this side of the pond should take possession of this guitar and sell it on Cor's behalf. Normal consignment charges will apply. If he doesn't want to pay consignment fees, the guitar should be shipped to him and he can sell it himself.

Farris, this is NOT the first time that people have come on the forum with problems about Emmons guitar company. After hearing what I've heard, I would not do business with them. Good intentions does not negate questionable business practices.

That's pretty hard to do when the buyer is in the Netherlands.
