Does anyone out there use 10 inch speakers for steel? I played through a tweed Fender Hot Rod Deville 4x10 and loved it. The speakers were blue alnico. It wanted to break up a little halfway through my volume pedal. Any advice on 10 inch speakers for steel?

I love 10" speakers and use them a lot. The Eminence Ramrod is what I really like with my 69'/70' Princeton because it's really fat and balanced but retains clarity on the high end. The problem I've had before with 10's, especially if they're vintage like the Jensens in my 64' Super Reverb, is the ice-pick treble that seems to be hard for me to dial out.

When I first started playing, a guy that was living with my family had a Super-Reverb with JBL's. I only had my National T8. It sounded great. I remember it well. But man was it heavy. This guy could carry it with ease. I would love to play through that bad boy now to see how it sounds.

The 4x10 cab config is just what I wanted to hear. Thanks guys. The blue alnicos sounded great, just needing something that will handle more power. Eddie, I'll try those Redcoats, do you have a 2x10, 4x10 or single 10 config?

I had/used a 4 x 10 FENDER bassman many years ago and enjoyed it immensely.

I used it for dance halls, radio and television alike.

I sure miss it. I used it with my quad Bigsby and Fender triple neck.

I use 2 re 200 Evans amps with 10 speakers. The amp is closed back and punchy having a Sarno Rev Pre helps too.

I've always wanted a cabinet with a 15 or a 12, and 2-10 inchers. All JBL. And if I could fit them into a sparkle blue Kustom tuck and roll cabinet, all the better. All strictly for looks. Sound quality 2nd. Laughing
