Bob Johnston died in August this year. RIP Mr. Johnston.
I'm listening to all the records he produced that I have in my collection to remember him.

Yeah---I saw his obit a few weeks back.

He made a fine rockabilly record in 1956, long before doing any producing or getting involved with Dylan and Cash. Maybe you've heard it:

Yeah, I saw the obit just after it happened myself. Unfortunately it is a time in history where many of the great music legends of the '50s, '60s and later are coming to the end of the line, and it can be difficult to keep up with all this bad news.

First thing I thought of when I read the story on Bob Johnston:

"Is it rolling Bob?"

I did two albums produced by Bob Johnston, both with Michael (Martin) Murphey back in the early 70's.

Bob was an amazing producer in that he trusted his artists to know what they wanted and he let them have their head in creating their art. He always said "my job is to turn on the tape recorder." He wasn't a micro-manager but simply let the music flow very organically.

Great knowing you, Bob. Be cool, man.
