What type of sound are you looking for? What's your budget? Just about any pickup will fit in the cavity with some modification (probably a plate to hold it in place). _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

Todd Clinesmith had a few horseshoes for sale a while back, he may still have one that would work _________________ Clinesmith consoles D-8/6 5 pedal, D-8 3 pedal & A25 Frypan, Pettingill Teardrop, & P8 Deluxe. |

If it were me...I would try to find a nice old "gold foil" or maybe a lipstick tube pickup. If I was going to go new I'd check out some of the pickups available through Guitar Fetish, their Surf 90's look interesting. _________________ "Don't be mad honey, but I bought another one" |

Make sure you consider string spacing when you try to drop a guitar pick up into a steel. That's why a lipstick style pick up might be a good choice. I have surf 90's in a 12 string electric and did not find them too live up to the hype although I like other GFS products better. |

Yay! I'm pretty sure you're gonna be happy. You said initially that she's naked, before you get her dressed, it might be a good idea to see if she's stuffed with old newspaper. If not, you might want to consider it. Lot's of folks prefer the stuffed sound over the hollow sound on metal Rickenbachers. _________________ Clinesmith consoles D-8/6 5 pedal, D-8 3 pedal & A25 Frypan, Pettingill Teardrop, & P8 Deluxe. |

Anybody have the "ears " that hold the pickup in the hole ? like these on the left ? I have the bolts and springs . A good pic of these would be appreciated . I could make some ears.

Hi Bob,
Sorry Bob, but I don't have any extra ears. The dimensions are 1 3/8" long, 1/2" wide, and 1 3/16" center to center body mounting holes. The pickup mounting hole is centered front to back, and side to side. |

Bob ... if you get stuck, I've got a couple of the black fiberboard versions that Lollar supplies with their horseshoes. I've been making my own for my P6 / P8 builds and have not been using the supplied fiberboard ones. _________________ Some misc pics of my hand crafted steels
