This may be too specific, too obscure or too obvious to some but I was wanting to listen to some artists/bands where the primary instrument is specifically c6 six sting lap steel. Song lists or full album suggestions would be much appreciated.

Well, most of the Hank Williams Snr stuff (at least, the Don Helms recordings) could have been done with a C6 six string.
He actually used an E6 tuning but only ever used the top 6 strings. |

Hank Williams' steel player on his early records was Jerry Byrd and chances are he might have used the C6th tuning. |

A lot of JERRY's tunes can be heard on Jerry's fan club site.
Mostly performed on his early six string Rickenbacher. Later, on his seven string Ric.
Later on his dlb. neck Sho Bud, 7 & 8 strings some with his C Diatonic tuning.
Great listening............ |

Look for Stacy Phillips.
One of the best dobro 6 string players ever. He tackles complex jazz harmony and chord substitution as well.
Wonder what he could do on c6 _________________ Stefan

When I played for Dan Hicks, I used an eight string dobro tuned to C6th. Although there was swing style, I found that the C6th was also good for the songs that weren't swing/jazz. _________________ Excel 3/4 Pedal With An 8 String Hawaiian Neck, Sierra Tapper (10 string with a raised fretboard to fret with fingers), Single neck Fessenden 3/5

Relating to the link I posted earlier... not to double up on this but after being blown away and while looking for more resources about Kayton Roberts I saw this post in the Our Extended Family section from Donna Dodd on Kaytons' health. This was not even a week ago. I'm sorry to admit that I'm probably his newest fan around but thought I would mention this here in case anyone was unaware.
Best wishes and to a speedy recovery |

It's just the one cut, but there's a lap steel medley on Buddy Emmons' white album (with the rainbow on the front) that's golden. Just the section where he plays "That's the Hawaaian In Me" will give you licks for days.
The Bebop Cowboys from Canada do some nice stuff, but might be 8 string lap…
Just about any Jerry Byrd album is mind-blowing for tone, execution, and sheer beauty of expression. And again, get anything with Joaquin Murphey on it.(Spade Cooley, Tex Williams) His playing is astounding and extremely inspirational. _________________ Stop by the Steel Store at: www.markvanallen.com
