Does anyone have tab for the way Buddy recorded A Mansion On The Hill on that live album at Scotty's convention in 1978?
I've got a lot of it figured out but my ears are not what I asked the lord before I was born, so it's all a struggle for me.
Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Andy

Andy, If you get a copy of Jeff Newman, Juat Play The Melody", I think you will have it. I play it from Jeff, and when I watched and listened to Big E, it was so much the same I couldn't notice any difference. Try it. Good luck

Hi Jim,
Thanks for that information.
Is that a lesson plan or an article that Jeef did?
Thanks,
Andy

It is a lesson, comes with dvd and book. I think it is still available. Go to Jeffrancollege.com.

Thanks Jim,
I just saw this last week.
Didn't know they were still in business.
Talked to Fran and ordered that.
Never have had a lesson plan before.
It arrived yesterday and I went through some of it including that tune.
It was good advise from you and that is quite good for other things too.
Gave me a new way to think about a few things I do and other ways to do them.
Best wishes,
Andy

the way it is in Jeff's "just play the melody" is the prettiest versions of it i have ever heard played
be sure to learn both parts of it and blend them together

Hi Calvin,
Yes a lot of that tune I'd already sorted out but there was some in the lesson that helped a lot.
Good instructions in scales that really helped me look at the scales and melody/harmony in a different way and that will be most useful in load of other tunes as well.
This was the first time I'd bought a lesson plan like this so it is all new to me.
Maybe I should have used these back in 1975 when I got my first pedal steel.
Back then I played around a little with Winnie Winston's book but didn't go too far in that.
Anyway, it was worth the $$$ spent.
Andy

it was this book that really got me over the hump so to speak ,
i played those scales until i swear i could hear them in my sleep and know right where to go to on the fretboard ...
the part where he tells you to "Now transpose everything to another key " will work your tail off but its well worth the time to learn it
i loved that book

best of luck on your journey
