Hello,

Im looking to replace my tuning keys on my 1974 ShoBud 6139, and was wondering if anyone might know if the Newer style Grover 210c (made for psg) would work, fit, etc... It looks like they do not mount with screws, but with a nut collar

thanks, any input helpful

why would you do that?
don't those sho-buds have the original grovers?
that's what i always thought was cool about sho-buds.

save yourself a hundred bucks!

the originals no longer work, Im rebuilding the guitar, and the originals are siezed up, and do not turn very well, they need replacing, otherwise I would keep them on...

Paul,

they might respond to a little oil. If not, I had Ricky Davis put Grover 102-18c tuners on my Professional and they were by far the best tuners I've ever had on any guitar. Ricky had to drill out the hole a little on the tuner for the screw that goes into the headstock. These use smaller screws than the originals. Just hold on to the ones from the originals and use those screws with the new tuners.

Again, this is assuming the originals can't me salvaged; I'd try that first.

You can send Grover a message and see if they are covered. I have done this before ans they just asked me to ship them the machines. They ended up sending me new machines AND the old buttons so they matched. Pretty good customer experience.

New Grover Rotomatics 18:1 are what I put on my LDG 15 years ago and they are the best tuners I have EVER turned. Yes more sensitivity on the turn than the 14:1; but I love that....seems to feel like fine tuning is possible..ha.

FWIW, Paul, if you were to buy two six packs, I might be interested in talking to you about buying your two left-overs. Get in touch, if or when.

Hello,

Im in need of some help modifying a new Grover Tuner set for my shobud 6139. Im wondering if someone might have access to the proper tools to widen the mounting holes in the new set of tuners, as well as grind down tuners for strings 5 and 6? I do not have access to the proper tools to do the work.

I would calculate how much money it would cost for the Grover Tuners, plus shipping to wherever you live, and shipping to my house in Massachusetts, plus your labor charge. I would send you paypal for whatever the total would be up front.

I think the easiest way would have whoever decides to do this work to order the Tuners, and have them shipped to your house, then you do the work and send them off to me in Massachusetts...

please let me know if you would be able to help

thanks

smitty
