I just want to say Ive been thru about
15 guitars in the last two years looking
for that special one, and thought a few
may have been it but didnt live up to the
test of time.
MEANING KEEPING MORE THAN A MONTH

NOW I HAVE AN EARLY 90'S LEGRANDE ll
FOR QUITE A WHILE AND SHE AINT GOING ANYWHERE

I LOVE MY GUITAR, THE SEARCH IS OVER
again I LOVE MY GUITAR.

perfect color for my pac a seat and all /RED

ACTION IS SMOOTH, STAYS IN TUNE AS WELL
AS ANY NEW GUITAR IF NOT BETTER.
and TONE LEFT OVER
because its uuuuuuuuusing out everywhere.

but i also love my custom amp, its a one of
kind i ve been working on for a year or so
and its done, Ricky D my best steel buddy
liked it before the latest development,
wait til he hears the final touches.

custom built tube point to point pre, NEEDING
A LITTLE TWEAKING.
and its there.

Im sorry if Ive taken up space b0b
but I LOVE MY GUITAR AND AMP

What Ray said. Great guitars (other than the bad tuning heads stripping out).

If your guitar sounds better than mine
then it needs to be in the hall of fame.

i like red better than black but both are
my favorite colors.

Now let me just say this guys this aint my
first Legrand by a long shot.

and i have others THAT sounded good, they are emmons right?

but this guitar just has it all.
tuning stability, easy smooth action that none of my other emmmons had,
And just stays in tune like a dream, i feel
like ive been dreaming ever since i got her.

i always thought i would end up with an emmons for the tone and just not enjoy a silky smooth action, and great tuning stabiliy, BUT THIS HAS IT ALL GUYS

AND I KNOW YOUR HAPPY WITH YOURS THE SAME.

WE ALL KNOW THAT ALL GUITARS ARE GOOD AS LONG AS THEY ARE EMMONS AND SHOBUDS.
RIGHT?

Just curious, I've heard a lot of braggin on the early 90 models. if I ever get one, I think I'll get a 90/92 model.

Is it true that a black emmons has a darker tone then a red one.I had a Bourgundy LeGrandeII.They advised me to take that one because the black one had more carbon in the mica finish then the red one.I always thought it was a fabel but now i am not so sure anymore reading the above...

Randy,
I'm mostly a Emmons Push-Pull man since I own 3 of them, but I also have a LeGrande III, I ordered it new from the factory back in 1999. I call it my green machine. Just got back from Scotty's Show in St. Louis and while there played every new brand of guitar on display. I must say, I like my Emmons Lashley LeGrande III better than anything I tried out. To me, theres no other Pedal Steel Guitar like a Emmons.

Nick,
Wow!!!
thats one good looking axe.
of course mine's formica but my next one
will be that guitar your playing
because i also had a brand new legrande lll

and it had tone to the bone but didnt
have the other stuff my early 90's has

but that wood finish is just too much
i wouldnt trade but i had two guitars
and then realized the other guitar was
good for nothin because i never played it
but now a wood finish legrand ll that
would be a slight change that would be
more than worth having.
DOUBLE NICE GUITAR

oh
I forgot to mention in the last two
years i tried every brand new guitar
besides a MSA made also.

except for trying them at a show i would
just buy one and then sell it, including
a brand new Zum(with all due respect to
Bruce the best guy in the Biz)

this was my fourth Emmons including a
push pull, a short head, and a brand new
legrande lll which was the one i wanted
back until i got this one.

however my new emmons just had tone it was
hard to play, but i heard that can be
adjusted, but you had to tune it every song.

this one i have now plays like butter
and stays in tune like a carter or better

WHAT CAN I SAY IM HAPPY
BUT a wood finish Legrande ll will be the
only thing I would consider as a second
guitar.
I will find out what year in the early
90's mine is and let you guys know.

Thanks
Randy

Randy and Nick, I can agree with everything you said about going through many Emmons and other brands of steel guitars, thinking you have the one that couldn't sound any better. Then all of a sudden, you run across one that sounds so much better, you can't believe it!
I ran across a 1993 Emmons SD-10 LeGrande a friend wanted me to help him sell. I even had it listed on here for a few days. I really didn't want another guitar, particularily, a SD-10 but in playing it I could tell there was such a difference in the tone from all the other Emmons Guitars that I have owned, not to mention many other brands too. It wasn't that there was anything wrong with any of the other guitars, it was just after playing this particular Emmons that I noticed such a difference in the tone, the way it played, how everything seemed to feel just right. It's hard to explain but you pickers know what I'm talking about. When this guitar was put together at the Factory, it must have been a good day or something, because it stands out from EVERY Emmons I ever had, including ALL the Push-Pulls I ever owned. Too bad it isn't a D-10, since that is what I prefer to play, but if I ever come across a D-10, like this SD-10, I'll buy it.

Nick, I remember when you ordered your "Green Machine" Emmons in 1999. You and I and Jack Strayhorn were outside the Emmons Display Room at the Smoky Mountain Steel Jam in Knoxville, talking about what you wanted in a LeGrande III. If I remember correctly you were a little hesitant about ordering it, but I helped talk you into getting it. You might also remember that was the night Jim Aycothe ran all of us pickers/customers out of the Emmons Display
Room. I thought that was a really smart thing to do, didn't you?

You've got a really good looking LeGrande III there Nick.
I know it sounds as good as it looks too!

Randy, I'm glad you found your great sounding Emmons too!
Here is my "NEW" 1993 SD-10 Emmons LeGrande.

does anybody know why these yr model guitars seem to sound better than other yr models?

Roger,
Besides the black D-10, I have a red SD-10 that looks just like yours. I have it lying on its back right now as I am putting the Franklin pedal on it. I ordered a pedal kit from Ron some time ago and am just getting around to it.
