Never owned an RP, but out of 4 Pre RP's trying different pickups including GL's, never found anything that rivals the original Mullen singles.
I've only done 1 recording using them, but I hear absolutely no hum on that. They will have a slight hum sometimes at very high volumes, like most other single coil pups.
I hear good things about Telonics but have no experience with those.
I believe you could get an objective opinion from Del or Mike concerning which other models of pickups work best in their guitars. |

When I bought my RP used it came with 2 George L E-66 pickups, which I didn't like at the time. I've heard good things about the stock pickups but never had them. So I switched to a Truetone on the E9 neck and 10-1 on the C6 neck and have had that setup for 10 years now and love it. _________________ Mullen RP D10, Peavey NV112, Hilton volume. Hound Dog reso. I agree with Jerry, I have been down that road and the stock Mullen pickup will sound the best, as it was designed for that particular instrument. If you must have a humbucker, the 10-1 is a good choice for an RP but it won't be as pleasing as the stock pickup in my opinion. I would contact Mullen and tell them that you need a pickup for a Mullen RP and they will promptly send you one. I have found that they have excellent customer service. Regards. |

I went through quite a few different pickups back when I played a pre-RP Mullen. None ever sounded as good as the single-coil pickup Dixie Mullen made for the guitar, back in 1997. _________________ Lee, from South Texas - Down On The Rio Grande
