Locally there is an amp for sale I've never heard of. It's a Fender 140 head that seems like it's similar to a Showman or Twin Reverb head. From google I've learned very little beyond it was only built in 1980 and it's quite rare. Any advice on using it with a single 15 cabinet for steel and tele? This picture is not the one for sale but is the same model.
Thanks!

53 pounds!
I'd be worried about the sliders after 30 years along with the usual caps etc. 140 Watts, with a 'low power' switch; there are different methods of switching power levels with different stresses.
No schematic at that site. In fact it appears to have question marks on some specs (including the configuration scheme!).
Is it inexpensive enough to roll the dice? Can you have a tech check it out? |

Had 2 of these over the years as well as a Fender 75 which was in the same series.. They are ok, but simply don't sound as good as a Silverface.. Its a Fender, and they are clean sounding, and have decent reverb, but to me, there is too much junk involved.. EQ sliders, pull pots, mid boosts, deep switches, hi and low power switch etc, etc, etc..They are ok, but there is a reason they generally sell cheaper than a silverface... They don't sound as "Fendery"..... _________________ I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!
no gear list for me.. you don't have the time...... |
