You guys probably remember the Axtremity bar with the little lever on it?
http://www.axtremity.com/

A neat idea, a minor flurry, but unfun-damentally it was a neat idea attached to a piece of hollow steel that wouldn't even be allowed to hobnob with my guitar slides, much less a steel collection... No big deal, nothing much wrong with it that 9 oz. of marine brass and a bullet nose couldn't help!

I have this basic problem with trying to use something that doesn't sound good and then compensating somehow, when there are so many things that sound good. Like this thing NOW, the weight of the bar also affects the tone of the lever facing, for ill or for good. The lever scoots out and back via your thumb, tapping and zipping around. Here it is, posing atop the worst idea I ever had in my life, which was to mount the MSA Superslide on top of a couple of pieces of 2X4s so it's ALWAYS right there whenever I sit at the computer.

I didn't know 57-year-old people could still play 12 hours a day... oh looky the sun came up it must be tomorrow etc. Plus there's a little infestation of loopers & stompers growing under the table, it's like heck on earth around here.

The original fitting is just a little locknut and bolt through the hollow bar, grabbing the bolt to remove it is the only hard part. I am sort of minimally-equipped, but I DID have an 8/32 tap so I drilled a couple of holes in the brass bar (placement variations), tapped them, enlarged the hole in the mechanism slightly. I wish there was another attachment point to make it feel a bit more secure. I have been in touch with the designer, because in my opinion the big bar sort of kicked it up from semi-toy status to serious. I.E. he could SELL a lot more...

I don't have the capacity to tap steel, or any more brass bars to sacrifice right now, but I can still idealize it to a bit better size and weight in my head. I think I can record music with this rig...? I've been unhooking and rehooking stuff so much to get to "perfect" it's confusing! Mebbe this weekend... summer is supposed to be my SLOW time! Whoa!

Well David we "HAVE" to see some clips!!!!I think this could be the answer to what some of us old, "too old to lug psg equipment around" guys have been looking for. I know these past few years I've given non pedal a LOT more attention,,,this may be a happy medium.

I HAVE an MSA Freedom stand, I have console steels, but you have to turn aside to use them. The important part is to get the steel and keyboard functioning as a doubleneck, where you can switch from one to the other instantly... or where the steel can glare at you, shaming you towards the question

I firmly believe in breaks from practice, but when I get up and go, the breaks often stretch out on me.

(Actually I have two different $5 Salvation-Army-issue walkers a lot sturdier than my "Freedom" stand... I prefer vibrato to come from my side of the steel, not from it's side! Whoa! )
