I acquired this four neck guitar several years ago from a guy that got it from an estate sale. I've had it in storage ever since. It has the name "Alson Black Aug 56" engraved on the head stock. There is a box of strings inside a drawer that has a label with his name and mailed to his PO box in Aransas Pass Tx. It's beautiful made guitar made out of all National Guitar parts. It is decorated with sea shells and lights and more bells and whistles. Inside the open lid is a beautiful Hawaiian scene. Lots of tender love and care was put into the building of this guitar. I assume since it was at an estate sale that he has passed. Does anyone remember him or know anything about this guitar? For pictures click on the link below. Thanks, Don.

That is really cool. Also props for using Imgur. Photos seem to be a big hurdle for some around here. |

That's amazing! And beautiful.
So, is the idea that it stays in the cabinet with the lid open when you play it?
Does it come out of the cabinet if you wanted to gig with it, or is it strictly for home use? |

I meant for the Quad 8 post to be in the no pedal section and don't know how to move it there. Maybe Bob can. Sorry, Thanks, Don. _________________ GFI D10-8/6 Black/Red

Jeff... it doesn't come out of the cabinet. It's built into the cabinet. It's all built together. I only hooked it up when I first got it to see if it worked. You can strum across any neck and it will shake the walls
even unplugged.
Dustin... that Imgur seems like the real deal once you figure it out. _________________ GFI D10-8/6 Black/Red

Wow! I can definitely appreciate the mojo that might come from staring at the inside of the lid while playing that beast! How cool! |

Interesting steel Don. Could you post some more photos of it. A sound sample would be great. The fret boards look like the ones use on the National Consoles but the pickups and bridge covers look like Gibson to me. I did a search for Alson Black, Aransas Pass, Tx and found one listing for a Alson Black age 111 in Crystal City, Tx. What are the odds? |

I love the dedicated Tropical Island theme in the execution and the naïve carpentry. It is highly likely the builder aspired to the South Seas escapism which permeated so much of the steel guitar music pre WW2. It would be nice to see it posted on the HSGA forum. _________________ Don't go in the water after lunch. You'll get a cramp and drown. - Mother. |
