Hi Jody... If I were to mention Wayne King and his Orchestra, I am sure it would ring bells in you memory...but I gotta wonder if many others know who he was. The reason I brought his name up was simply because you mentioned the song, "WHEN I LOST YOU" which King recorded and was probably the best known version even though it did NOT have a steel guitar. The other song you mentioned was "YOU TELL ME YOUR DREAM, I'LL TELL YOU MINE" (which you referred to as "I had a Dream") ... Yes I recall those great old tunes and both are readily adaptable to the steel guitar as you obviously know. I won't disclose my age, but I like to refer to myself as 40/33...you figure.....(ha!) It sounds better. Next year I'll be 40/34.

So you're just a young kid like me, Jody. Thanx for the pre-mature wishes...(not 'till next March, God willing). Hey guys, sad to lose Perry Como...who's left in the crooner era ? Tony Bennett and ????

George,,,I guess Vic Damone is the only one left,,,he is a great singer,,,but he is only about 72 years young,Andy Williams still going strong,,as is Steve Lawrence,,,but the people we remember Dick Haymes, Frank, Dean, are all gone now and with Perry gone it will be a sad place here...edited for spelling.........................

Paul, thanks for posting the words. My mom sang this song many many years ago. As soon as I saw the words, the melody came right to me. Oh what I'd give to hear her sing it again.

Billy; My mother was also a lot of my musical heritage. She had an upright piano
and around Christmas time she would sing Oh Holy Night and Ave Maria. At Easter she would sing The Lord's Prayer. My father played a zither and some years I can recall them doing vocal and instrumental harmonies. It was only in the family and like you, I sure would like to hear those songs again. Best Regards, Paul

"The One Rose" by GB was playing on the turntable 42 years ago when I proposed to my wife! In my life, both have endured wonderfully!
